The navigation screen on our 2008 Lexus RX-350 “went dark”/stopped working on 9/1/14. As a result, all functions involved with the navigation screen were no longer operational including the back-up camera, clock, air conditioning control, clock, etc. Here are my concerns regarding this issue:

Early-life failure/Poor Reliability: There were only 36,440 miles on the car at the time the navigation screen failed. To me, this early-life failure seems like very poor reliability for a car.

No Replacement Available: I took the car to Lexus-Escondido on 9/2/14 who determined that there was no replacement navigation screen system available anywhere; in the United States or elsewhere.

Long Delay To Repair System: Because there was no replacement system available, Lexus-Escondido removed the failed system and sent it out for repair. The repaired unit did not come back until 9/26/14; almost one month after Lexus-Escondido sent it out for repair.

Lexus-Escondido Service Department Poor Customer Satisfaction: To me, the Lexus-Escondido Service Department was very impersonal, independent, and uncaring in addressing my concerns. In my mind, they had a “take-it-or-leave-it” attitude and displayed poor customer satisfaction in dealing with us regarding the repair of our car. Furthermore, in my opinion, they could care less about us as a customer when it came to helping resolve an issue that came up regarding the dollar amount of an extended service warranty deductible (and, to me, it became increasingly apparent that each dealership operates totally independent of each other with their own interests at heart rather than working together to please the customer to resolve this issue).

This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth to the point that I will never buy another Lexus and I certainly wouldn’t take any car to Lexus-Escondido for service again.
