The oil line failed and the engine light did not come on until it was too late. The oil chamber was bone dry. Car got towed. Lexus estimated $9K to replace short block, or it might be $4K for a used one. The camshaft gear rattles now but car can be driven. But, not a good situation to continue to drive the car like this. Car is otherwise in excellent condition. These are not cheap vehicles. This needs to be a recall or class action lawsuit since this is a common occurrence with these cars and it's a manufacturing defect. Had my light come on in a timely fashion, it would never have been an issue.
