Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: The 2008-2011 Mercury Mariner has a dangerous problem with the power steering that Ford says they fixed when they didn't -- at least not 100%.

Mariner 6-cyl

  • 35,800 miles

The contact owns a 2008 Mercury Mariner. While driving approximately 15 mph, the front driver's side door fell off the vehicle. The contact had to pull the vehicle over and temporarily tie the door while driving the vehicle home. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that it was due to a manufacturer defect and was installed incorrectly. They replaced the driver's side upper hinge under warranty, but the contact believes that the failure should be recalled. The current and failure mileages were 35,800.
