Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. The contact owns a 2008 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that the power steering failed as soon as the engine was started. The vehicle was turned off and on several times before the steering corrected independently. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact that the steering torque indicator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the steering torque indicator needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact that there were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 150,000. Updated 01/18/12 updated 03/13/12
