It took a little searching built it looks like this is covered as a recall/defect. Reference 14m03.

ACTUALLY, BOTH TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLIES ARE DEFECTIVE. THE DRIVER SIDE UNIT IS RANDOM AND THE PASSENGER SIDE UNIT IS TOTALLY OUT. I NOTICED THE CONDITION WHEN LOCKING THE CAR DOORS WITH THE FOB (THE LAMPS WILL ILLUMINATE MOMENTARILY TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THE DOORS LOCKED). SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY (YES I KNOW IT'S A RECALL AND "FREE" OF CHARGE), I WILL PURCHASE AND INSTALL THE LENS UNIT MYSELF, THEN REPORT BACK WITH THE RESULTS. TRUST ME, WHEN A VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER THE NEW CAR WARRANTY, THE "FREE" ALSO GOES AWAY-------------- EVEN WITH RECALLS.
