GM has been replacing the intermediate shaft on many of these vehicles, but the fix apparently only lasts a short time.

Another Absurdity...more poor engineering, steering knuckle runs out of lube...only car that has ever happened to me (owned 15 cars). Then add insult to injury....charged $125 to apply a very small tube of lube to steering knuckle. Took Dealer mechanic 20 minutes but book charge was for about an hour...so, got screwed twice. Then, in one year same problem re-ocurred...this time took it to my fav independent mechanic...cost $50 to lube...3 years later...still working well. Permanent Solution...not buying another GM car (owned 10+ so far). Have bought 2 new Honda's (2007 Civic & 2008 Accord V6---great cars). Have it your way GM...losing loyal customers over pennies is stupid...but, GM is tooooooo Stupid to figure it out. Wonder why sales are slipping...fool us once Shame on You, Fool us Twice---Shame on US.

The clicking noise in the steering column has been a recurring problem since 12,000 miles. At first covered under warranty, but now it is my problem at least every 9 months or so- dealer says needs lubricant- at $130 each time, I'll put up with it-just hope nothing else is affected.
