The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the brake lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the brake lamp switch was replaced. There was currently an open investigation under NHTSA action number RQ13001 (exterior lighting) for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000. Updated 4/24/13 the consumer stated the cruise control, battery, and remote start all had failures. All were repaired except the remote start. The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. While the vehicle was parked, the contact heard a loud clicking noise and the exterior lights flashed. Several minutes later, she saw severe smoke. The fire department was called and they concluded that electrical failure was the cause. An investigator from the manufacturer stated that they would not provide her with any assistance because she did not witness any flames coming from the vehicle. The dealer could not identify the cause of the failure. A fire report was filed. The contact has possession of the failed components, including the starter and battery. The failure and current mileages were 38,000. Updated 06/30/08 the starter shorted out which caused the smoke. Updated
