The "service air bag" keeps coming on. After speaking with a Pontiac representative they stated it is a problem with the G6 models. I then researched it online and many people complain of the same thing, the problem is a bad sensor and computer. Resetting the airbag sensor doesn't correct the problem which is $600 and changing out the sensor is $1200 and that still doesn't correct the problem and it is unknown to the dealership if the airbag actually works!

As I was pulling away from a stop light in a busy area the air bags deployed all of the sudden on their own without impact. I was able to slowly pull over into the michael's store near by. The air bags hit my head and arm. The entire side air bag system, including the seat mechanism exploded from the driver's seat to the back passenger.

Service air bag light comes on...will stay on and then switch off. When a passenger is in seat it states air bag is off.I am hearing tons of reports of 2008 G6 with same faulty air bag sensor/modules/harness systems. This is an important issue the needs to be addressed alot of people will be seriously hurt if these airbags shut off with passengers in the seat. Please recall these cars! dealerships are giving customers the run around with these issues and people are paying 1000S of dollars to have fixed and alot of times after replacing the seat sensor or the module the light still stays on and air bags aren't going to work properly in a crash.

Upon the purchase of a brand new Pontiac G6 in 2008, I have had several problems from about the 5000 mile mark. It began with my tail lights staying on while driving, no matter what speed. When I apply the brakes, they would go off and come on while driving. A month later steering column started to knock when making turns, the dealership has regreased the shaft and the noise went away for a few weeks and has continued to make the noise. The dealer said it will not hurt anything and will not regrease it. All of these issues have been happening for 4 consecutive years. I have replaced several head lamps, once about every 2 months and wiring harness because they melt. The power steering started to go out in November of 2012 and several times since; it locks up and I am unable to drive it for a while and it just magically fixes itself. I had trouble putting my vehicle in park in January 2013 and my key would not come out of the ignition. I left it in for a few days and it came back out. Yesterday, February 23, 2013 the airbag service light has come on. We have checked all fuses, and there seems to be none out. The vehicle has never been in any accident not even a dent on the vehicle. I have never recieved a recall for the vehicle either. Maybe they are just not getting to me?

Al have to be related and its a known problem in Pontiac. And GM wants 730 to replace module 232 for door actuator.its B.S recall 2008 G6. They have recalled G8 for similar problems.

They should add the same recalls for the cobalt and G5 to the G6. It is basically the same car with the same problems. These problems exist on my G6 and many others on the G6 blogs.

My air bag sensor turned on in my car and it says to service my air bag. I called GM and they want to charge me $99 to put it on the machine. I have done some research and it seems like most of the Pontiac have air bag sensor problems. Can you let me know what recall there is on them. Thank you

The passenger airbag sensor turns the airbag off when passenger sits off center. The airbag sensor will not reset if the passenger moves back to center of seat. I have had the sensor replaced and it will do the same thing. The only way to reset it is to turn the car off. I don't think this is safe and would like you to consider recalling the airbag sensor system.
