Brake Lights Not Working Properly

CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 is starting to have the same problems as previous model years, including the headlights blowing out due to bad connectors.

The wiring harness connections aren't a big deal to replace, as long as your dealer or mechanic doesn't charge you an arm & a leg to "diagnose" the problem.

brake lights not working properly

A kind lady followed me into a parking lot to tell me that my brake lights were on while I was driving and not on when I was braking. I late asked a friend to check for me who said it was ok. Only later did I get told by two more seperate people about the same issue. One person's boyfriend was a mechanic and told me this is a common problem with G6's. When I brought it into my dealer he gave me a hard time but eventually did fix it. I told him this should be a recall as it's extremely dangerous and he basically brushed it off and said GM wouldn't do that. Little did I know at the time that the same problem would happen several more times after apparently being "fixed".....

Update from May 31, 2016: This same issue was finally recalled in 2014!! I was pretty upset that the same problem I had was not fixed the first time.

Update from May 31, 2016: I noticed that my brake light was on again while in park. I took a photo of it today actually. I called the dealership yesterday and took it in. They gave me the run around and wanted to charge $130 for a diagnostic test. I explained how this has been an issue 2 times prior so clearly its the same once again. They told me that when the recall was performed, it is closed so it could be another problem. Shame on you GM for not standing by your product and allowing people to drive with this extremely dangerous situation!! Are you waiting for a major car accident to happen? This is very concerning as clearly the "fix" is not a lasting one and GM is doing anything to avoid this!!

Update from May 31, 2016: I noticed that again my brake lights were on while in park. Took it to the dealership and they wanted me to pay $130 for a diagnostic test. I told them this was already "fixed" twice before and it clearly isn't the solution. They brushed me off only to say that it could be another problem. Shame on you GM for not standing by your product!! This is clearly the same issue but you don't know how to fix it! Are you waiting for a major accident?! This is a MAJOR safety risk!!

The brakes lights came on automatically and only went off when I tapped the brakes, but came right back on after a minute, if they waited that long. So there I was tapping my brakes while driving to work on the x-way. thank goodness it only take my 10 minutes to get to work.

This is actually the second time this has occurred. the first time I was told by the dealer service dept the sensor casing was not sealed properly. I have only had this vehicle serviced at two dealership, the one I purchased it from and the one near my current resident. I believe the problem occurred the first time during cold weather and it was in the forties this morning, Monday 10/21/13. I purchased this car new and It has only had one driver.

Update from Oct 23, 2013: according to the dealership service dept Rep my fix was high resistance in BCM connector. their fix was to clean and lube terminals and reset BPP sensor. i was charged even though I reported this same problem before. what a rip off. guess I am done with this dealership. not sure if it fixed, time will tell.

When I press on the brake lights they go off and when I'm not pressing on the brake lights they are on.

My mechanic replaced the brake light switch but that didn't fix it.

This seems to be related to my cruise kicking off when I'm driving also!

Help!
