One of the main reasons I bought this car was for it's "Seal Of Pretty Good" here on Carcomplaints.com. And so far it's been "Pretty Good." But what you probably don't know is that this car (1.8 Liter version) has the exact same engine (the 2ZR-FE) as the 2009 Toyota Corolla, which has more complaints on this site than any other Corolla.

Luckily the worst problem ("rattle on cold start") hasn't happened yet. Instead - I discovered that the whirring noise this car has had for several months was also the cause of the recent moderately-loud shuddering coming from the serpentine belt - the water pump wasn't spinning properly. Luckily I found the part cheap and had a friend repair it. That plus the cost of coolant was about $100. This all happened before any sort of worse failure occurred which I'm very grateful for.

The fact that this car has the same engine (and similar complaints online!) as the '09 Corolla with the rattle on cold start problem has me very worried, and would definitely want to veto its status as "Pretty Good."
