Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Vue LX. The contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, he would have to turn the nozzle upside down in order to refuel the vehicle otherwise, fuel would not enter the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where they advised him that there could have been a failure within the venting system. The failure and current mileage was approximately 26,000. "check engine" light came on. Fault code P0446. Gas tank hisses loudly when I undo the gas cap. Loud popping sound (like pressure releasing from a plastic bottle when air is sucked out and then air is allowed to re-enter),from under the car. I am concerned that my gas tank could rupture, leak or explode and catch fire.

  • 200 miles
At 200 miles, the check engine light came on. Took the car to the dealer. Told me that I probably didn't put the gas cap on properly. They re-set the check engine light. At 800 miles, the check engine light came on again. I returned to the dealer. They were able to detect 2 error codes on the computer. They examined the car and determined that there was a small hole on the flange of the fuel pump. They replaced the fuel pump and re-set the check engine light. Car has been running fine since. Old fuel pump is not available.
