The AC unit blows hot air intermittently. After adjusting the control knob from low to high a couple of times, it commences to blow cold air. After a couple of minutes it starts blowing hot air again. I was told that I needed to add some Freon, which I did. The problem persisted so it wasn't the Freon. $38 down the drain.

If anyone knows what I can do to elevate/resolve this problem, please, please, please let me know. Toyota, please issue a recall on this problem since this seems to be a problem experienced by many. Frustrated in GEORGIA>>>>>>>>>>>>>HELP!

Air conditioner blows hot air when you go over any bump. I have read that this is a common problem with this vehicle. Toyota should do the right thing and have a recall. Transmission also went out with low miles. I did some research and this is also common problem with the 2005 Highlander... Recall, please!!!

I had a 2002 Highlander with air conditioning problems; AC would blow hot air. Had it worked on a couple of times; cleaned and freon added. It would work intermittently. Sometimes just hitting a pothole would put it back on track. Finally traded it in.

My question now is for my mom who has a 2005 Highlander that is doing the same thing. She had it worked on, probably did the same things that we had done. They say nothing is wrong with it. A friend of mine says there is a problem with the knob that controls the heat to cool. Very frustrating in hot weather and it suddenly starts blowing hot air. Seems there is enough problems of this sort for Toyota to tell us what is wrong.

When you hit the knob a few times, the cool air will again start blowing. Over the years it was a pain, but now it is happening 80 percent of the time. I see this is a common problem for the 05 highlanders. They should have a recall!
