The fuel tank only holds up to 12 to 13 gallons of gasoline when it is entirely empty before shutting off. Toyota has flaunted a 17.1 gallon fuel tank capacity and a 600-mile range with that. This is the epitome of false advertising as it gets at least 25% less on the fuel tank capacity and on the mile range. I've never had a car be so off regarding its stated fuel tank capacity as this car in multiple different gas stations. Totally feeling ripped off.
In my opinion the 2020 Highlander Hybrid has the same issue as the 2019 and 2020 RAV4 Hybrid. YOU CAN'T FUEL THE TANK ALL THE WAY AND GET THE 600 MILES RANGE TOYOTA IS ADVERTISING. The fuel tank capacity is 17.1 gallons but when the low fuel light comes on it will only take between 12 and 13 gallons. I average 35.3 mpg at the moment. I've taken it to the dealer and called Toyota. The dealer has duplicated the problem but there is no fix at the moment. Supposedly the Toyota engineers are working on this.
If you are having the same issue, please call Toyota and get a case number. The more cases with this problem the better, if we want a fix sooner than later. Thank you.
