Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

2004 Toyota Prius Owner Comments

problem #1

May 052005

Prius 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles

Two weeks ago, the consumer was driving her 2004 Toyota Prius at 50 mph and it died. Luckily it was not during rush hour traffic and occurred near an exit ramp. The consumer was able to maneuver to an exit ramp where she coasted downhill into an off street. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and they have had it for 2 weeks now and they stated the inverter that ties the hybrid to the gas system was the problem. The consumer feel this is a design flaw and feels that she should have been notified by Toyota of this problem.
