brake failure

I was driving to church on Thursday Nov 16, 2017 and it was sunset. The woman in front of me was driving fast at very congested intersection, so I stayed far behind her. She slammed on her brakes and I did mine but not only did my brakes not work but I pumped them, screamed and slammed into her hard. I think my accelerator was not up all the way either due to the sound I heard before the crash. The man who saved me from complete meltdown told me that I had to take my foot off the brake and that it 'is over, you are going to be OK'. Terrified and in pain, I ended up in the hospital for several hours and have whiplash and bad bruises. AND now I have no car, I am being blamed for this when it was clearly a defaulted in the brakes (or accelerator) AND only by this website did I find there was a problem with the 2006 Prius brakes and acceleration that Toyota has NOT recalled. I don't know what to do now....

brake failure

Was in a terrible car crash when BRAKES DID NOT WORK 11/16/17 in Tucson AZ. I have a 2006 Prius and had just hit a pothole and our roads are not good due to the summer heat (asphalt melts). I did brake since the person driving in front of me was slowing down and she was way ahead of me but not only did my car not stop, it revved up! I was terrified! My car slipped under hers and her spare tire (Jeep) almost went through my windshield. I am now responsible for the collision, it will go on my insurance, I have to pay legal fees, I have NO running car, I have medical bills AND ALL OF THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT.

IF YOU HAVE A TOYOTA 06 PRIUS AND DID NOT GET YOUR WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE OR IF TOYOTA JERKS YOU AROUND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CONTACT NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT.

Ironically they already have one on the Freedom of Information Act about the problems but did not tell the public that the same problem was happening on other cars before the 2010 models. I have always loved my 5 Toyotas throughout my life but no more, the Hybrids are very dangerous!

BRAKES FAILED (2ND TIME IN 2 MONTHS). WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO NARROWLY MISS A BUS AND VEHICLE NEXT TO ME. DROVE ON MEDIAN STRIP AND JUST MISSED A LARGE PALM TREE AND SIDE OF BUS. VERY NARROW SPACE.

WOMAN AT TOYOTA ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS NO BIG DEAL SINCE THERE WERE NO INJURIES. I TOLD HER IT WOULD BE A REAL BIG DEAL IF I HAD HIT THE ENGINE OF THAT BUS. NHTSA HAS 44 ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS FOR BRAKE FAILURE INVOLVING 2004-2009 PRIUS. NO WARNINGS OR RECALLS FROM TOYOTA REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. WAITING TO HEAR FROM TOYOTA.
