Prius 1.5L

This car is wonderful in saving money for gas. But the braking issue too dangerous, it can cause accident at any time that there is bumpy road. I have asked the service adviser at Toyota Dealer Indianapolis and was told it is normal for regenerative braking system for charging battery which totally does not make sense. I suspecting front struts might need changing but the dealer say they are OK.

Prius 1.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 51,000 miles

When I go over a bump or uneven surface or grate or slippery surface while braking in my 2006 Toyota Prius, the ABS (antilock brake system) and/or (VSC) vehicle stability control/traction control activates showing the VSC light on the dash display. The problem is that when these systems do so, I lose all braking power and it seems as though the car accelerates. It does extend braking distance which could cause an accident since it is happening for an unexpected or foreseeable reason. It happens when the road is wet or dry does not make a difference. I believe it needs a software update and/or better struts to keep the tires in contact with the road over rough bumps.
