The click happens everytime when I stop (say for a red light or stop sign) then proceed forward, then click. Just changing lanes the other day without braking, click. The click noise also happens intermittently driving. I brought it into the dealer and they diagonosed it as a brake problem. It was not a brake problem. The noise still continued after the brakes were fixed. The new shop I took it to thinks it is a 70% transaxle problem. If not, it might be a transmission problem. Waiting now for the first fix. Hopefully, it will be corrected. The dealer wanted to charge $530 for the part. My shop for the after market part $130. Go figure! 85,000 miles.
Update from Jul 22, 2014: The shop fixed the problem. Thank goodness. The axle on the passenger side (it sounded like the driver side but they had done a closer look and determined it was the passenger side axle) was broken. They showed me the part that was broken. As they took it out the gauge that holds it together fell apart. So...no more clicking. Cost: $350.
