I am furious with Toyota for not owning up to the problem! I live in an area that gets on average 64 days of sun a year and TJ Toyota in Potsdam, New York have the nerve to tell me it sun damage, not sub-par gaskets. Nor would they go to bat and try to get Toyota to help out, That was all on me.
So I called and talked to Susan at Toyota's 800 #. She was all kinds of sympathetic and thought that the gaskets should not have rotted off like they did, never got to talk to her again. Called back again 3/25/19 talked to Al,he didn't have anymore info on my case but told me of the recall on my car's software and how important it was to get it fixed, (something TJ Toyota did not!).
Called today they told me Toyota would not do anything to fix the problem! So I'm not sure what my options are at this point. I have read of complaints of this type and Toyota has help out and replaced the sunroof. Big question is why not mine??
