My car stalled while I was driving it on 2 separate occasions. It is a 2014 w less than 70K miles: 1/2022 Within seconds of 2 or more warning lights going on, the engine stalled. I was able to steer, brake and drive on the electric motor towards home. The electric motor drove another.5 mile before it also died, leaving me with no power steering or brakes. I was on a slight incline and coasted most of the way off road. The car was towed to our local dealer, which said the intake manifold had failed. Dealer replaced IM and related hoses and gaskets. 6/2022 I was driving on a busy interstate at high speed in the passing lane. The car started to lose power and decelerate. I maneuvered to the side of the road and UP! the on ramp. Made it to roadside business on remaining battery power.

Hi my name is [XXX]. Toyota headquarter case # [XXX] Incident day July 6, 2018 I had a big technical problem with my 2014 Toyota Prius V where it caught on fire because one of the valve lifters fell into the engine head and broke the engine block while driving. When that happened, the oil began to leak into the muffler and the engine and hybrid wiring immediately caught on fire. Many of my colleagues who also bought the same vehicle for Taxi business use in San Francisco all have a similar issue as mine. A few of theirs caught on fire, and a few others mentioned to me that the head gasket for their same Toyota vehicle blew out and each of them had to replace it at around 120,000 miles. I believe that-€™s why they don-€™t manufacture these same vehicles anymore because of the defectiveness in the engine. I opened a case with Toyota Manufacturer back in July 2018 and they sent a specialist to inspect the vehicle after the fire. He found the piece that fell inside the engine and that damaged the engine. The Toyota specialist admit to me that the engine of my 2014 Toyota vehicle is very defective and must be covered under warranty. My mechanic replaced the engine for me with a used one with 28,000 miles. This entire case was documented under my name with Toyota Motors Manufacture. I contacted the highway safety and I tried to file a claim against Toyota at the time, but I never got a follow up on my case after I left various messages. All they said was that they will investigate but never gave me any information regarding the engine fire situation or honor any warranty. I hope this incident will be investigated by your department and have this vehicle under recall. Thank you. Unknown. I was basically driving on the freeway, when my car's engine suddenly stopped running. The car was automatically put into neutral and was not able to control the speed of the car, so I had to move to the side of the freeway. As I was sitting in the car, I started smelling burned wire and interior started to fill with smoke. I immediately turned the car off and got oit. As I was standing far away from the vehicle, fluid started leaking and it had caught into fire. The front bumper was completely burned off, as well as some of the engine and electrical parts were affected as well.

I am the first owner of this vehicle it has about 110K miles recently the started to shake when I start it in the morning or when parked for a while it started to show the check engine light some time it goes away on its own so I figured I will do 100K service changed the spark plugs oil filter etc. The shaking went away but after 1K miles the symptom came back with service engine soon and check engine when I scan it the code read P0301 I have also noticed the coolant is low went Toyota picked up a coolant and added about a quart then the problem still persisted when I went online for an answer I was surprised by what I discovered most of the cars with the same problem needed an new or rebuild engine as long time Toyota fan owned many different ones I was baffled by this problem I need help. As I learned online this problem affects most of gen 3 prius at this point I don't know what to do except ask Toyota for repair or replacement of the engine as I just finished paying for it. The problem happens only when the engine is running at stop or driven at low speed I have also notice the average gas mileage suffers. When the car is accelerating the problem seems be unnoticeable.

I have 2014 Prius V and the car was working fine with no problem at all. I got a recall from Toyota that my car needs software update as a remedy for manufacturing problem. I took my prius to Toyota dealer in New York city to perform the recall. The recall was done and the car problems started. The car was overheating now so I took it to a mechanic to find why, the mechanic said it was the water pump and changed it but the overheating was still there but was reduced. Later, the car was shaking badly at 15-20 mph speed. I took it to the mechanic to check what's the problem, the mechanic shocked me with the news that the engine needs to be replaced because it is defective inside because of overheating of the car. Now I do not know what to do because I need a lot of money for the engine replacement. All my car problems have started after the recall done. Thank you

The head gasket in the engine failed at 200K miles and when starting the car in the morning the whole car hook and shuddered. The same problem happened to all my other Prius V models at approximately 200K miles so I think this is a faulty gasket Toyota has used in all its Prius V model cars from 2012 to 2016 years therefore there should be a recall of these cars which Toyota should fix without charge. I spent more than $4000 to fix the problem in each car. I have 21 Prius V cabs at the moment most have already had the head gasket changed and thought I"M done with this problem and Toyota should take the blame for this right now. I spent $30K to buy this car and after 2 years for it to fail on me that's messed up. Even though it's a commercial vehicle that still shouldn't be the problem.

The head gasket in the engine failed at 120000 miles and when starting the car in the morning the whole car shook and shuddered. The same problem happened to my friends car a 2015 model at 70000 miles so I think this is a faulty gasket Toyota has used in all its Prius V model cars from 2013 to 2016 years therefore there should be a recall of these cars which Toyota should fix without charge. I spent $3985 to fix the problem.

Was driving at approx 20mph on a side road when the car completely lost power and went dead. All the dashboard warning lights lit up at the same time. Lost steering control (the steering wheel became very heavy and was unable to steer). Managed to coast to a stop a 100 feet away (since the car had absolutely no power). Turned off the power button, turned it back on and the car started running again. Took it to the dealer the next day. They ran diagnostics, found codes (listed below) which suggested that the smart key lost communication with the car. They kept the car for an extra day, ran the diags overnight just to see if they can reproduce but, was told that they were not able to reproduce the problem. No idea what may have caused the issue. The smart key was sitting on the center console. Below are the smart key related codes that were recorded: U0100 - lost communication with ECM/PCM "a" U0142 - lost communication with body control module "B" U0155 - lost communication with instrument panel cluster (ipc) control module U0293 - lost communication with hybrid vehicle control system please help investigate this as this is potentially a very serious issue. By god's grace, there was no other vehicle on the road, was going at a low speed and thank god, this did not happen on a highway at highway speed. Thanks.

After parked for 20 minutes, the car is dead, had to jump start. Battery was replaced by the dealer, but the issue was not taking care of. At least 3 more times since the battery replacement, I found my car was again ded after parking, can not even open the door with remote. But all 3 times the car was able to power on after a few minutes on it's own while waiting for tow... above that, the clock, trip odometer and temp settings were resetting on random times since 650 miles, as well as the radio which will turn on and off at random. Dealer replaced the radio but it still does the same. I was told that they (dealer) can't tell anything wrong with the car, and can't do anything about it, unless it's dead while it's in their shop, even after I showed them the photos and videos of the issues.
