There was a recall for the cable that secured the spare tire under the vehicle. They assessed that the cable was susceptible to breakage and therefore removed the spare tire to the rear cargo compartment and secured it there. This prohibited the vehicle to stow the rear seats in that cargo compartment, thus making the vehicle useless for hauling certain items as the vehicle was designed to do. Contact with the local Toyota service (and also national) have not come up with an acceptable or affordable fix. We understand that a large number of other Siennas and Rav 4's have the same problem.
