pedal pressure fades and pedal drops to the floor
The Toyota diagnosis is to plug into the computer port and get a data readout on the brakes from a sensor. According to the Toyota engineering rep, this sensor is located on the brakes side of the system and there is no sensor(s) for the pedal side of the brake system. During the 30 mile test drive, he observed the computer data while I drove and mentioned when the brakes were functioning OK and when they were not. He flagged on the computer the points during problems. He and three other reps have seen the pedal on the floor condition but Toyota refuses to acknowledge there is a problem since it doesn't show on the readout data.
The problem happens in two general ways;
1 Normal slow braking for stop light, toll, etc..... and sometimes the pedal pressure becomes mushy and the pedal travels nearly to the floor. The van stops but without the normal tactile foot feed back to determine stopping distance.
2 Sometimes while at a stop with your foot on the pedal to prevent moving, after 30~45 seconds the pedal pressure fades and the pedal sinks to the floor.
