The backup camera will, intermittently, fail to come on when the (manual) transmission is put into reverse. Sometimes this can be corrected by shifting out of and then back into reverse. I suspect the backup switch on the transmission is at fault. I placed a jumper between the wires going to the switch and the camera did come on.
Note: This one switch controls both backup camera and the backup lights. When the failure occurs the backup lights will not illuminate and give no indication (to anyone behind the vehicle) that the vehicle is in reverse.
