Tacoma Doublecab TRD 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

Was hoping it was a cold weather related issue ,the ticking diesel like noise is not consistent.

The quick warming up was an important feature for buying this truck with our climate way up here .

I miss the old oil pressure and voltage gauges still not a big fan of these idiot lights.

No wonder customers get suspicious

was so happy with our 91 Camry it still runs fine. just switched from a Ford f250 to my first Toyota truck. $39,000.00 Canadian for a tiny truck... should be better.

Tacoma 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,000 miles

At about 1,500 miles I started to notice a ticking noise coming from the left (drivers) side of my engine. It sounds like a lifter tick or rocker arm. This engine having an overhead cam I don’t think it would have lifters or rocker arms but that is the best way I can describe the sound. Soon after that it started making a sound on acceleration like an exhaust leak, ignition ping, piston rattle, or a baseball card clicking on the spokes of a bicycle. It is most noticeable during light acceleration just after the transmission shifts to the next gear. I took it back to the dealer at 3K miles and they said it was normal. The noise is getting louder with time. I guess the problem will become evident in time. I just hope it is before the warranty runs out. I paid top dollar for this truck. I expect top quality. As of now I don’t believe I’m getting it. Other that the engine noise I think the truck it fine.
