I was troubleshooting a minor power steering fluid leak after hearing squealing while turning and realizing my fluid was about 1/8 quart low. I noticed the bottom of the right boot connected to the steering rack had fluid inside, but the entire right side of the rack had rusted to the point where all paint was gone. Ironically, the left rack is in perfect condition. Also seems VERY interesting that my truck is currently at Toyota for a rusting frame recall (to spray with CPC) but they claim there's no "related TSBs or recalls" that would contribute to the steering rack corrosion.
