Had just pulled out of the driveway. Made a left turn and the whole right wheel assembly fell off........the tire (with the rotor, caliper connecting rod and steering knuckle) rolled into someones yard, through their bushes and hit a little wall in front of the front door.
The right front A-arm dug into the black top and tore it up for about 20 yards, finally stopping 5 feet from a very busy intersection. I replaced entire front end on both sides. A-arms, ball joints, tie rod ends. The cost was about $900.00. The pain in the ass was extreme.
Toyota should have grease fittings on the ball joints when they come off the assembly line. All the replacement parts have grease fittings. It should not be an issue from now on.
