Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

I hit a pot hole with my 2004 VW Jetta tdi (I bought this car brand new and it has never been in an accident). When I turned the corner I heard a "popping" sound. Drove it to a nearby mechanic. The closet VW dealer is 70 miles away. The spring on the driver side was broken. The mechanic said that this is a manufactures defect as he has never seen a spring break like that. There was erosion in the spring. I still have the spring. Replaced at $347. Contacted the VW dealership. They first tried to brush me off saying they didn't see the pot hole etc. Eventually they gave me the VW headoffice phone #. brushed off there too as it's out of warranty. It's not the warranty. It's a faulty spring that was placed in my car. It also ruined the shock.
