CarComplaints.com Notes: Digging through the long list of NHTSA complaints about a sudden loss of engine power and the high pressure fuel pump failing, it's never good to come across the "my car (with a cold engine) set itself on fire in the middle of the night" complaint.

When I am just idling, sometimes the engine just revs on its own and the rpms bounce up and down. Usually after a bit the car just shuts off on it's own.

Jetta Highline Tdi

Experiencing a woofing noise when idling. Thought it was exhaust flap...again however it has been diagnosed as the duel mass flywheel. The flywheel is said to be failing and is a known issue that has been fixed in newer versions of the flywheel. The car is off warranty and this repair for a known issue is quoted to cost us in excess of $2000.00. I can't remember the last time I purchased a flywheel, this seems ridiculous.
