There was a class action lawsuit for 2014 Jettas that covered the repair of the timing chain tensioner, but only for certain VIN numbers. My vehicle has exhibited the same failure, but because my VIN was not categorized, this is now an out of pocket expense. I showed the known problem to the dealer and they were not willing to cover even though this is clearly a defect.

I just bought this car because every time I turned the key in my last car there was something wrong. I thought I was finally done worrying, for a while, and today, 10 days after I bought this car it starts making a rattling noise. The people have been really nice where I bought the car but I haven't even heard back from the dealer yet, letting me know what is wrong or if they have even looked at the car and now I'm wondering if this is going to be a problem for the life of the car.

Jetta GLI AutoBahn 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,200 miles

I got the car in July and it only has 2200 miles on it. I noticed the noise about a month ago. It only makes the noise when I'm accelerating and when it shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. If you watch the video the noise happens at about 0:06. It's just like a slight rattle. I have taken it to the dealer and they claim they can hear it but can't seem to find where the noise is coming from? I NEED this noise fixed!! HELP!
