Car stalled when attempting to accelerate from a stop/signal/intersection. Hybrid light would flash as well as the 'D' light. Car felt like it was in neutral and wouldn't move. Read that sometimes the car can get stuck in a higher gear and can barely move (engine RPM high, with loss of power). This seems like a safety issue, as trying to accelerate to highway speeds or to avoid an accident which could have been avoided and the car fails to move. Reported issue to NHTSA. VW refuses to acknowledge the problem after speaking to their VWCares representative.

Dealer diagnosed the problem, found multiple transmission faults. P177B clutch tolerance limit reached (mechanical malfunction intermittent). P0841 Transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch A range/performance (upper limit execeeded intermittent). No TSBs or Tech Tips for related fault.

Dealer suggested to replace the Mechatronic J743 with the transmission hydraulic pressure sensor G270. Estimate was 3800 for the repair.
