The car hesitates roughly in a jerking way. Mostly when driving from a stopped position in 1st gear the car would hesitate then get a burst & start to move properly. Sometimes on the highway I wouldn't be able to accelerate if I'm trying to pass someone. The car would hesitate for a second, so I release the gas for a second then press again to continue. I already replaced fuel pump controller (very expensive) now it's going out again & my engine light goes off & on for long periods of time. The mechanic says it's the same problem, now I'm trying to wait for this recall to be active so I can drive my car without fear of car failure in the worst moment with my kids in the car.

My vehicle has had a recall number 20ae and NHTSA recall number 17V509 since August 2017 and there has been 0 movement or notice on the recall. The recall is a major safety hazard as the car will stall while moving increasing the potential for a life threating accident. I have call VW of America and local dealer multiple times with the same answer there are no parts available. I am afraid of this vehicle due to the unexpected stall of the engine, if some one is hurt or killed I wonder if the parts would suddenly become available. Please pressure Volkswagen to fix this very unsafe problem.

"in relation to fuel pump recall"....since the year started my car has been hesitant to start and sometimes needs a second start. On January 9th I started my car up in the morning and about 3 symbols popped: The gas cap, engine check, and the warning symbols. I turned it off securing my gas cap and waited a few mins and turned it back on. Now the engine check is gone so I continue my morning commute. Eventually the gas cap symbol is off, warning is still on but now the engine check is back on so I went to get it checked out at advance auto parts with emission and leakage codes identified. So then I bring it to a local shop who specializes in VW and they tell me I have fuel, oil, and coolant leakage. They cant fix the fuel leak but the other two is fixable which only brings to me concern about this recent recall. I have read other drivers of my vehicle (2006 Passat) getting involved in fender benders, car stalls, engine problems etc. This will be a huge inconvenience if the car gives out on me and I need a quick resolution to this because I have a child who just turned 4 months and cant risk getting into a car wreck with her in the car. VW at least give us a time frame on this issue because you're putting our lives at risks

Recall no. 17V509 in November 2015, while driving on a city street, my car stalled. When I took it to a local dealership, they said the fuel pump was faulty and replaced it. At the end of December 2015, while driving up a steep road, all of a sudden the car lost power and began reversing, before crashing into a barrier. I was fortunate that the barrier prevented the car from going over a hill into the river. Once again a local dealership later told me the fuel pump was at fault. It was not until September 2017 that I learned of a recall that "cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash." This is exactly what happened to my vehicle.

Driving 65 on the freeway in heavy rain, car made horrible sound and lost acceleration power. Almost involved in accident, however managed to pull to shoulder when the car then filled with a gas smell. Called for assistance and was towed 100 miles back to my mechanic. Upon inspection, mechanic discovered that the catalytic converter disconnected at the turbo flange. He also stated that he had fixed the exact same problem in my exact vehicle make/model the week prior. Contacted VW to see if this was covered under the 80K miles emissions warranty, only to discover that in California the warranty only goes to 70K miles. The entire catalytic converter was replaced to the tune of $1,150. The mechanic stated that the replacement catalytic converter from VW was much more sturdy than the original installed, indicating that VW is aware of the issue. Additionally, he stated it was odd that a car dealership stocks that part as it is not too common to replace the catalytic converter under 100K miles.
