I bought this vehicle with just over 83,000 miles on it. After having owned it for 2 years I noticed there was some rot with a crack on the frame. I called GM and was told there was nothing that could be done due to the age of the vehicle. What ever needed to be repaired was my

responsibility. Not realizing how bad the frame was, I continued to drive it. The frame broke and cracked in multiple spots and the leaf spring shackle mount cracked/rotted off the frame. This caused my rear axle to drop out of position sending me off the road. Luckily I wasn't moving at high rate of speed and I was able to stop. If I had been going faster it could have been disastrous. The vehicle is now junk unless I replace the frame. Thinking this is going to be about 3 to 4 thousand dollar job. I still owe $10k on this vehicle!

On January 2, 2019, My husband and I were driving in our Hummer H3, upon turning on to the main road from a side road the vehicle swerved violently and went out of control. Luckily no one was hurt and on-coming traffic were able to avoid us due to the slow speed we were driving. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop and diagnosed with a serious frame issue. The frame cracked at the upper control arm mount causing the vehicle to loose all controlling and control during braking.

Earlier, in August of 2016, with 66,000km the rear end of the frame failed, the rear cross members, rear shock mounts and body (cab) mounts rusted through and required extensive repairs. The vehicle has been taken care of, regularly serviced and rarely driven in winter. With such low kilometers, the frame/structure of the vehicle should not fail. The failures are a serious safety issue as they can cause the vehicle to go out of control.

My mechanic and insurance company suggested I call GM as well as put in a safety complaint with transport Canada about premature frame rot. At only 66,000km (and zero body rust) my chassis rusted through and apparently the same thing is seen in Canyons & Colorados. After a second scare with the frame cracking while driving, I decided to call GM, they claim there has never been a complaint. I'm not really expecting anything from this, however we do need to register any safety issues as many of these are still on the road. It only takes a few minutes (Just have your VIN number)

The rep at GM said that if they receive enough complaints they may issue a frame recall. But for now they actually discontinued the frame.
