I own a 2009 Lexus LS460 AWD.. The Brake Malfunction, ABS and VSC lights came on while driving. Took the vehicle to Lexus dealership and was told that my brake actuator needed replacing. The extended warranty for the part expired on July 14 2009 --- Its September 9th 2009. Less than two months after extended warranty of 10 years or 150,0090 miles. It seems as if the light was delayed from coming on as long as possible until the warranty expired. I called Lexus corporate and they would not budge. So I guess I'm out of luck for this factory defective item's repair that costs around $2,600.00 after taxes. Now I have to make a HUGE decision, Should I invest $2,600.00 in a 10 year old car or find something else. Thanks Lexus. I expected a higher level of care or concern for your flagship vehicle.

LS 460 V8

Lexus issued a "Warranty Enhancement" for replacement of this part if it failed, the requirements were if the part fails with the vehicle under 150k miles or under ten years of in service. The brake actuator failed on my car at 97k miles and 10yrs 1month 10 days of in service. I reached out to Lexus to ask for support and was told the company has given field reps specific instruction to not give any support for these specific parts if they are out of the "warranty enhancement" time frame. This part failure creates a major safety concern as it controls the power distribution to all brakes as well as when it fails the ABS module shuts down and the yaw sensor is disabled.

Lexus needs to issue a recall as they have admitted this part is faulty by issuing a "warranty enhancement" and redesigning this part within that time frame so they obviously know it was a faulty design. I guess it will take someones life from an accident due to this part failing before anything further will come.
