The contact owns a 2007 Saab 9-7X. The contact stated that upon starting her vehicle, a flame emitted from the driver side door panel. The flame then dissipated as white smoke began to emit from the driver side door. The contact exited the vehicle from the same and retrieve assistance. Her co-worker were able to assist her in removing the door panel off the driver side door. The contact was not injured as a result of the fire. The police nor the fire department were notified of the failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that her vehicle had been included in NHTSA campaign number: 12V406000 (electrical system, visibility). The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 228,000. * (recall related incident)

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 12V406000 (electrical system, visibility) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair for longer than a year. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
