passenger airbag light comes on intermittently

I've taken my car to the dealer about the passenger airbag icon problem a few times; even had OnStar check it while the icon was lit or flashing. (The icon sometimes flashes, but mostly stays on for long periods - and no, I do not put heavy items on the passenger seat.) OnStar always suggested taking the vehicle to the dealer right away. And of course, each time I took it to the dealer the icon happened to be off and they couldn't find anything wrong -- diagnostics didn't show anything. [If it's not in the manual, forget about any solution from the dealer!!] It still goes on and off intermittently. My fear is when I have passengers in the vehicle ... God forbid if an accident occurs! General Motors recalled 4 million late-model vehicles as of Sept. 9 due to an airbag defect. It's hard to believe that the 2007 Saturn Vue has not been recalled for anything related to the passenger side airbag.

When I am riding along and my airbag light comes on, it scares me because I don't know if it would work in a crash or if the problem is technical one. Don't know if I have those Takata airbags either. I really need to know if it would really work during the time it is on or not. It is very much a concern of mine.

I wrote to GM about the Passenger Air bag light illuminating along with Passenger Air bag Off light displaying @ least 5X with NO repsonse. It not functing properly may be both a defect and HAZARDOUS as the airbag NOT deploying when needed can be deadly. I say this could be a defect due to this being the second time this has occured with the first passenger airbag sensor being replaced by Saturn while still under warrenty within the first 3 years, to have two of these failing within the 75000 mile range indicates a definite problem.

I think ALL Saturn owners should keep this and also write to GM with their similar complaints and God forbid something bad should happen as a result of the passenger airbag system not working properly it will be on record that GM was notified of the problem and to save $$$ ignored the situation hoping it does not come back to bite them in the a_s. For GM to do NOTHING is VERY unfair to the customer and irresponsible as a manufactuer knowing there is definately a problem with the part, design or way of installation and ignoring the problem they know exists.

If GM claims the air bag should work anyway regardless of the warning lights try proving that if an attempt to sell the vehicle is made, plus my dash is NOT a Christmas tree that I need extra malfunctioning lights on. PLEASE repair this problem for the safety of all of us. Sincerely, Steve B.

This happened a week after the warranty ran out. $1500 quote to repair . Service manager said do not fix . There are probably more injuries from air bags, safer without them.

Airbag warning light on dash came on and then went off. Over a period of several months the light would come on more often. Now the light is on all of the time. I believe if a crash occurs, the airbags would not deploy and injury or death may occur. This should be a safety recall.
