I purchased a 2010 Cobalt new in June, 2010 and have driven less than 25,000 miles. The clutch went out unexpectedly last week. GM is stating that the clutch is not covered under the warranty because it is considered normal wear and tear. The repair cost is $1600. I have owned 2 prior manual transmission vehicles - a Baretta and a Sunfire. The Baretta had 157,000 miles and the Sunfire had 133,000 miles when I traded them. Neither required a clutch replacement. Online there seems to be quite a few people who have encountered the same problem at approximately the same mileage and in some cases less than 25,000 miles.
I'm considering filing a small claims court case against GM.
