The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving between 20 to 50 mph, the ABS activated without the brake pedal being depressed. The ABS warning light illuminated and the broadcast system indicated that there was an ABS error. The dealer would not repair the system because there was no recall. The ABS has been deactivated. The ABS is a part of the hub and sensor, and must be replaced as one unit. The ring is located between a thin piece of metal and water is able to enter because there is nothing blocking the open space near the sensor. The contact is aware of the design flaw and the safety risk involved. The ring dislodged and caused the ABS to actuate. The failure mileage was 50,000 and current mileage was 71,000. The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado crew cab. While attempting to stop the vehicle from 45 mph the brakes began grinding metal to metal. This incident occurred twice. When approaching a traffic signal the contact had to pump the brakes in order to stop the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed the failure as the ABS, and stated that the repair could be performed if the vehicle was under warranty. After having the rear lower brake pressure repaired the ABS became inoperable. The right rear end would slide, grind, and produce a screetching noise. The contact stated that the failure caused a hit and run accident. The contact called the manufacturer to request financial assistance for the repair of the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. The contact received recall # 06V139000. The current mileage is 36,800 and failure mileage was 19,000.

Driver's side electrical button control pad inoperable at irregular and inconsistent instances. Upon pushing driver's side window electrical button, driver side window will not roll down. However, the driver's back, passenger front side, and passenger back side electrical keypad window buttons remain operable. Both the driver and front passenger lock/unlock electrical keypad buttons are inoperable. Upon turning off engine, removing key, exiting vehicle, closing all doors, and pushing the keyless entry lock and/or unlock buttons result in response from keyless locking mechanism. When key is left in ignition and engine running, upon pressing either the lock/unlock electrical buttons on the driver's door or pressing the keyless entry lock/unlock buttons result in a double "dinging" sound from the dashboard display but no other indication is produced from dashboard. Dealer response; customer copy invoice: Operate window, check connector on switch. Window operates normally, cannot duplicate customer complaint. ABS light will come on and stay for an indeterminate amount of time. Normal and correct operation of ABS dashboard display light indeterminate. Results in customer concern for safety of driver and all passengers relying on correct functioning of ABS brake system. Dealer customer copy invoice: Scan computer code C0040. Run flow chart, found right front hub and sensor had intermittent open circuit. Replaced right front hub and speed sensor. Standard braking was fine but when the consumer needed the ABS it did not work. In normal braking the wheels started to lock up and it released but it never reengaged. The ABS trouble light as well as a information center on his dashboard illuminated indicating a problem with the ABS. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined there was a problem with the front ABS sensor. The dealer didn't have the part to repair the problem. GM is pending the outcome of the investigation. GM indicated the faulty ABS would not have caused an accident at this time.
