I don't know if it's a takata inflator, but there was a recall for the 2007 Chevy Equinox, but, for some reason the recall did not have my wife's car's VIN # regarding this recall. So, her car did not receive a recall notice! what I'm upset about is, that she has low mileage on her car, and had the same problem, just recently, and it's the same model and year, regarding the recall, that did not involve her car! I was told by GM, that because her VIN # was not "in" the recall, that there was nothing that they could do, but if I wanted to, because it's a safety problem, that I could contact you! and "then" if you told them that it was a safety problem, which it is, that you could then, get in touch with GM, and they would take care of it! so, what can be done, this shouldn't be like this!!! please help us take care of this safety problem on my wife's 2007 Chevy Equinox if you would please! regarding the note below, my wife was simply driving, and the air bag light came on, and that was it. When I got in touch with GM, they did tell me that there "was" a recall on this, but because my wife's Equinox did not fall into their recall VIN #, that there was nothing that they could do! if it was a different model, year, etc. Then I could understand of course, but not when it's the same car, and model, that they recalled!!! thank you for your assistance, in any way!
This vehicle is one of several that have been reported to have problems with wheel speed and psi sensors, which then causes the traction control to believe computer wise it has no traction, therefore the light is always on and the computer sometimes shut the traction control off when it needs to be on. It also has airbag trouble with the passenger seat, also like the recall. However, despite the fact 2007's were issued this recall, it's saying my 'VIN' does apply to these recalls. Find that hard to believe when these things are messed up. Just want GM motors to awknowledge it's possible that this vehicle was mismanufactured.
My daughters 2007 Equinox, has the well known, passenger side airbag sensor failure problem. In.case of an accident the passenger side airbag will not deploy. This is an $800 +/- fix. Several thousand Equinox, torrent, Saturn and other GM cars built on this platform are affected. Several model years suffer from this ailment. "failure of the air bag to deploy can result in increased injuries or death." The Saturn sky and Pontiac solstice had this same problem and it was corrected recently under recall. It is my opinion that these vehicles should be recalled and this problem corrected.
Passenger airbag sensor does not register with airbag control module. Brought it to Chevy for repair. 600 bucks later and a new sensor, airbag still isn't responding. Chevy tells me I need a new airbag control module for 700 bucks, had already spent 1300 on that visit. Airbag does not register passenger, computer will not reset and sync with control module. This shouldn't require the entire module to be replaced, nor should I have to pay for this since this I've heard/read numerous cases all dealing with this issue on the same model and apparently GM refuses to recall (aside from the airbag reprogram when it first released) has been an ongoing problem since I purchased the vehicle from a dealer, who said they fixed it before I picked it up. Does work intermittently, when a larger person sits there, air bag does register.
Even though my VIN does not come up as having an issue with the passenger air bag detector in my seat, it does not detect when someone is sitting in the seat and will not come on.

The vehicle was taken to mildenberger motors (1717 N 1st St, hamilton, mt 58940, 406-626-3050), but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.
The contact owned a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 20 mph, the contact crashed into a concrete embankment to avoid colliding with another vehicle. The air bag failed to deploy. My passenger side airbag does not tell when somebody sitting there so if I have an accident the airbag will not go off I don't think the sensor is working it has been replaced once already. My key gets stuck in the ignition I have to wait for it to click to get it out of the ignition
At 100,000 miles, the passenger airbag sensor failed and caused the vehicle to indicate that the airbag was not active, even when a passenger was in the front, passenger seat. I took it to the authorized dealer and referenced # 07V344000 recall but was told that my VIN did not fall within the recall, despite the similarity of the issues involved.
Passenger airbag light shows not on all the time-with or without passenger in seat. Message to service airbags on all the time. Now seatbelt light is flashing even when in use. Service stabiltrack light comes on and off. Reading all the other comments I see this is a common complaint. Recently had my car in to replace fuel pump that was a recall for others but a "special repair" for my car. Told dealer about problems with airbag and stabilitrak and was told it would cost about $150 each to do the diagnostic tests. What is it going to take for these problems to become recalls for all the affected cars?
The front seat passenger air bag will not come on when someone sits in the seat. I get a service air bag system on the driver info center. Took to dealer was told computer shows codes B0081 and B0074. Was told passenger presence system, namely the seat sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. Repair estimated at $1100. This is a common complaint in GM vehicles. The vehicle is designed to have the airbag deploy during a collision considering the use of safety belts and deformation of the vehicle's structure. Service air bag system warning light comes on and stays on when ever the ignition is turned to the on position. It does not matter if anyone or anything is in/on the seat, or if vehicle is standing still or in motion.

Air bag light is on all of the time. I took it to rk Chevy where it was purchased from to have the fuel pump replaced under warranty and they did nothing about air bag light and said do not worry about it.
1. the airbag sensory on the passenger side goes on and off depending how the person is seated or how much the person weighs. 2. the defrosting/heating mechanism doesn't produce warm enough air to clear the windows for clear visibility..
Good morning, I am writing from guatemala city, guatemala C.a. I bought, from the local dealer, cofio stahl, the Equinox 2007 on June 2007. Approximately 5 years ago my vehicle showed an airbag system ' passenger sensing problem, which was overlooked by the dealer, even though they had my car on their workshops at least twice a year since 2008 for maintenance and oil change. Recently I found on the web the FMVSS noncompliance recall, bulletin 07174 dated August 2007, which clearly indicates that the problem of my vehicle is due to a GM safety recall. Having handed the bulletin to the local GM dealer, they reluctantly performed the service procedure as indicated, however the problem was not solved and they are not willing to pursue with the solution at no charge, neither will they receive my car as partial payment for another vehicle. I took the Liberty of writing to you in the hope to find a solution, since now I am stuck with a car that the dealer would not receive and I cannot sell if the problem is not solved. I have had a 2005 and a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox both were in accidents and the airbags did not deploy. The 2005 was a rear end crash the car that hit me was traveling approximately 60 mph. The second accident was a frontal crash I swerved to miss hitting a dog and children going on the road. The steering wheel locked up and hit a tree. I have had 3 Equinox all have ignition switch problems. The one I have now has major transmission problems.it has been in the shop now for 8 weeks.
