The first time this happened, I was driving a hilly back road from school the service stabilitrac and traction control warning lights came on then the engine power is being reduced warning light came on and the car immediately slowed to a crawl with very little steering control. I was able to drive it on the shoulder to my mechanic at no more than 20 mph and he said that 4 of the 6 coils needed to be replaced. A $700 repair. Second time it happened (12/3/14) I was driving on I-95 doing 65 and all the same lights came on again but this time the car instantly reduced the speed and I was crawling at 10mph. I had several near misses with other cars as we were all traveling at the posted speed in rush hour traffic. I struggled to get the car to the shoulder. I stopped the car and restarted and everything reset and I was able to drive for about a mile or two and it recurred. I happened 8 times before I was able to get it to the Chevy dealer. The dealer took 3 days to try and diagnose it and said it was probably the throttle control. They replaced it $493! and told me they did not know if it would fix the problem - it may last 1,000 miles or 20,000 miles. If it happens again I will have to bring it back and they would have to take apart the engine which would cost me $5000!!! this car is unsafe! I/my family could be injured or killed if it happens again! recall it! codes shown in diagnostic were P0300, P0305, P0221, P0121.

Driving at 65 miles per hour, the truck feels like it is losing power, the more gas I give it does not matter. The console say the stability control is off. I pulled off to the side of the road turned the car off and restarted it. It went for about 3 miles and came back on again. In researching this seems to be a defect as this does not appear to be uncommon. This is extremely dangerous. I am glad I was driving and not my (xxx) year old daughter. The dealer wants $600 to fix a throttle cable. I was driving home from work one evening. I just came off of the highway, then there was chimes coming from the 2011 Chevy Traverse. Then on the dash read traction control off stability control off service traction control service stability control engine power reduced. I went form 40 mph to 20mph in less than a second. Contacted the dealership was told to stop driving immediately and have it towed to them. I get a call the next morning regarding the Traverse and an estimate of $230 for a diagnostic and cleaning the throttle. Not even a month later it happened again right before I was about to enter a highway, I called the dealership again and they told me to have it towed and they will perform another diagnostic and give me another estimate for the exact same problem. They called back later that day with another estimate of over $500. I told them I was not paying another cent to repair the exact same problem that I brought the truck in for the first time. He gave me some story about it could be 1001 problems that causes this problem and I told him that is the purpose of a diagnostic to find out what the problem is the first time. Long story short I did not pay the $500 to fix my Traverse a second time for a repeat problem. The worker made it seem like he did me a favor for not charging me. Thank god I was not onb a highway when this happened or that I did not have my children with me. Chevy needs to fix this problem asap before a very bad accident happens and they will be sued.

Use remote starter. After a few minutes of warming up unlocked and entered vehicle. Once key turned to on doors started to lock and unlock. Put car in reverse barely moved. Tried drive and would not move? check engine light, stability track lights are on. Not good when you need to get to work.

While driving 2011 Traverse the service traction control warning light came on. The service the stabilitrak light came on. While continuing to drive the car completely lost engine power. I was not able to accelerate. Had to pull over to the side of the road and wait 2-3 minutes. Restarted the car. Drove a few more miles down the road and happened again. No power at all in the engine. Could not accelerate. Pulled over to the side of the road and restarted. Was able to get to the dealer. Was told it was a throttle body control system that had to be replaced. While researching online appears to be a known problem at GM dating back to their 2004 models. No recalls have been issued but the problems continue.

Traction control turned off, stabilitrak trak turned off and then it said they needed service, immediately after it then started down shifting and quickly slowing itself down. It is a real hazard on icy roads and on the interstate in traffic when the vehicle quickly slows itself down. Many posts on the internet with this problem repeatedly occurring with multiple repair attempts at dealerships. I'm starting on my 2nd trip to the dealership. This is a definite safety issue when the car takes control and slows itself down. By shutting off the car it will reset the system and then it will work properly for a while. But this problem keeps recurring after it has been driven for a while.

I bought a 2011 Traverse last winter. I was so excited about my new family car. Wednesday, the service stabilitrak, service traction control and reduced engine speed came on with no notice. Luckily, I was on a neighborhood side street taking my kids to school. I called to setup an appt to have a Chevy dealer look at it but after turning it off while filling the tires up the lights all went off. Called back to see if they still wanted to see it and they said no because it must have just been a sensor... appt canceled. Thursday drove with no problems. Now today, Friday, I hop on the expressway in Chicago traffic and bam right as I am merging, ding ding and my car just revs and won't get up past 40 mph, all the same service lights came on. So scary! I have my little kids in the backseat and terrified to pull over on the side of the eisenhower, slowly get to the next exit as I pray we won't get rear ended. Call as soon as I make it home for another appt and the first time any Chevy dealer near me has open is 4 days from now. Looks like we will be parked at home for the next 4 days. It really frustrates me that we bought this "reliable family vehicle" that I am now scared to drive my family in. It's even worse now googling this issue and seeing many other having the exact same issues and nothing is being done for us.

Four times today as I was driving my Chevy Traverse the traction control went off, the stability control went off, and a message flashed that I could experience a reduction in power, which happened immediately after the notification. The car barely had enough power to make it safely out of traffic. This happened one other time last year but when we brought it to the dealer they could not replicate the problem.

When driving my 2011 Traverse, it would reduce engine power and advise service. It would drop power to the point car was not drive able. I would shut car off. Wait and then able to drive it at low speeds (15 mph). This of course created a dangerous situation on the highway.

Have had two incidents where the stability track has come on and had to pull over and turn vehicle off wait 10 minutes and restart and finally it goes off. The last incident was I was driving the light comes on saying engine power reducing and it drops speed down to where I have to pull over not to get hit. I pull over turn the truck off and it starts but reduces power again and turns itself off this happens about three times before I give up. I then have to call a tow truck when they arrive and tries to start it does start now. I have been having this vehicle for 6 months.

Vehicle was 2011 Chevy Traverse w/ AWD with history (four instances) of engine oil leaks/requiring engine removal and reinstall. Vehicle was on interstate when AWD/vehicle stability control lights went on. Dic indicated 'service stabiltrack', 'service AWD' and 'AWD disabled'. at that time, vehicle was 'chugging' but shortly after chugging got much worse to the extent that the vehicle could not accelerate or maintain speed at cruise, or without cruise up normal hills on an interstate. When gas pedal was pressed further, RPM/speed would increase but then drop sharply (500-1000rpm) multiple times and no further power could be applied. Vehicle slowed down to about 50mph at the top of a hill. Happened for the next 15-20 miles until it could be pulled over. Vehicle was taken in once right after original occurrence, all three lights had gone off at point and vehicle drove normally after that. Service center indicated a wheel censor (front right) was reading defective information. They cleaned 'dust' from the sensor. Happened again about two weeks later, similar circumstances/results. Service center indicated wheel sensor was bad, they replaced (at my cost) and had no further instances for about four months. Similar situation happened again today (7/19/2014, conditions and results). However, the engine chugging was much worse and vehicle could not be driven safely on the interstate, would not accelerate or maintain safe interstate speed.

June 2014. Was driving on city expressway when suddenly "service stabilitrack/traction control system off" came on. Our SUV suddenly started losing power. Took truck to Chevrolet dealer service dept. Service performed. Tech said he found nothing wrong. Did note that I had other recalls pending on vehicle. July 2014. Was driving on interstate 40 at 11 P.M. and was 80 miles from home. I was driving alone. Suddenly "service stabilitrack/traction control system off" came on. SUV started losing power. Was unable to get above 65. At some points RPM was high then loss of power. SUV felt as if it was trying to cut off. Have read in a forum ([xxx]) that this is happening to a lot of Traverses. We purchased this SUV two years ago and really like it as it's perfect for me as I have to Transport my disabled iraqi war veteran husband to and from his va medicals and we travel the interstate a lot. Is this another issue that GM needs to add to its recall? we love our vehicle but now have a serious concern about this vehicle's safety. While driving down the highway at high rates of speeds, all of a sudden the dashboard display lights up with all kinds of messages. It says to check traction control and reducing engine power. The engine reduces power and when you step on the gas it doesn't go anywhere. This happened a few times. At first I thought maybe it was ice buildup but after it happened a few more times I looked online where I came across a forum and found out there were hundreds of other Chevy Traverse owners who had the same problems. It happened on the highway when I was driving and I almost got smashed from behind by people going over 70mph. The car would barely move. The Traverse was only 2 years old. After taking it to the dealer they stated it was the throttle body. It wasn't covered under warranty. I believe it should've been since the throttle body is part of the engine. How can a vehicle 2-3years old and have a 100,000 mile power train warranty not be covered. After talking to a few Chevy people I found out this has happened to other types of GM vehicles too. They stated there has been bulletins put out on earlier models but never a actual recall. I called GM corporate but they didn't want to hear it. Very serious problem that needs to be addressed.

While driving on the highway, multiple warnings and lights came on and speed was reduced by the engine to 20 mph from 65mph. If there had been another vehicle behind us at the time we would have easily been hit because of the rapid deceleration. The fix was to replace the throttle body on the engine. After much research this appears to be a very common issue in Chevrolet vehicles, and because of the manner of the vehicle slowing down so rapidly I fear that there have probably already been accidents related to this issue.

Traveling at 70 mph, suddenely traction control light came on, then engine powered down, I find that this is a common problem with this car, why isn't something being done. This has happened 4 times since March 5, 2014. At shop now will cost me over $500 to replace the throttle control. This needs to be a recall.

I was driving at 65 mph, and hit a small bump where a bridge ends and the pavement resumes. The check engine light came on as well as service stabiltrak and reduced engine power indicators. I was able to limp the vehicle to the local dealership for repairs, but at a very reduced speed. The dealer found that the "throttle position sensor" to be faulty, and after replacing that item the vehicle ran normally. This was not covered under warranty. The repair cost was $540. I am told that these are a common problem both by the dealer as well as by an independent shop. I am surprised that: 1. a part such as this is failing in a vehicle with so few miles 2. that this was not covered under any type of warranty.

Driving on the highway and all of a sudden there was an alert on the dashboard saying that "traction control off" then immediately after another alert came on stating that "engine power has been reduced". I was unable to accelerate fully. I turned the car off and back on and it reset it but the same alerts came back on minutes later. The next day I took it to the dealership and they said the throttle body had to be replaced. This seems to be a common occurrence for these vehicles and after researching online I have found hundreds of others that have had the same problem. This is extremely dangerous and Chevy/GM should seriously consider recalling this part.

Was at target one evening and noticed a sweet unusual smell coming from the Traverse. I took a look underneath the car and noticed pink substance dripping from the engine. Upon leaving target I noticed that the arm on the temperature gauge was higher than normal. I drove 40mph for a mile and the gauge shot up to the top. I was 25 minutes from home. I had to stop 6 times to let the engine cool down in order to make it home and I had all four of my kids in the car with me as well. It totally freaked them out. I had to rent a car for the weekend as I needed transportation to get around. I had a company that will come to your home to fix your car. Found out it was my fuel pump. After 4 hours of labor and $400 later it was fixed. Four months later, today May 10, 2013 as I'm driving home from work, the car begins to beep and the traction control light and ABS light comes on and service stabilitrak system and traction control off displays in the display window. It seemed as if it was hard to accelerate as well. This is the 2nd thing that is probably going to be fairly expensive to fix that has happened to this car. It is the weekend and now have to try and find a place to take my car and have it serviced. Seeing now that there have been several complaints with this specific component on the car, Chevrolet needs to recall this car and fix this. This is very dangerous and could cause an accident. I think it's ridiculous to have to continue to pay for things that continue to break down on this vehicle. I am a single parent and cannot continue to financially be able to do this.
