My 2005 300C has been stalling since January 2014, I later found out due to a faulty fuel tank. I had multiple instances of stalling and engine shuttering hard, and very hard restarts almost getting T-boned two times during the stall and restart process. While on the waiting list for a new tank, my hemi engine blew up costing 6K for a new motor. This engine was meticulously maintained with records, I called Chrysler and asked their engineers to investigate "if the engine failure could have been caused by the tank hydro locking". after many calls to unhelpful people, some of whom did not even know about the tank issue, the supervisor refused to escalate my request to engineering and summarily closed the case, in spite of his employee first telling me to prove it and helping me get a tear down quote from the local dealer for a root cause analysis. So now they say even if I prove it, they will not investigate if tanks are the cause of engine failures and they closed my case. I think it is doubly unsafe if the bad tanks are also blowing engines, and it is bad corporate behavior to deny a link but refuse to have the engineering dept. Look at the possibility of a linkage. The outright refusal to acknowledge the issue or assist even if/when I prove that the tank caused the engine to blow, is beyond unethical and I request that the link between bad tanks and blown engines be investigated by NHTSA and service bulletin issued, and other appropriate measure to mitigate this.

My daughter & I are driving my car, a 2005 Chrysler 300C with the V8 engine and experiencing a stalling problem after filling up with gas. Upon leaving the gas station and merging into local traffic the car then stalls causing a dramatic loss of speed and loss of control. For my daughter she was lucky that there was a driveway (for another gas station) at the corner so she rolled into another gas station without hitting any cars and causing an accident.the same problem reappeared when next time, I left the gas station after filling up and the car stalled after I traveled about 200 feet and had just merged into traffic on a busy local road. Luckily I was able to restart the car after it stalled in the middle of this road. The car is now stalling every time I fill the tank and I will be taking it to a Chrysler dealer to get fixed. This problem was investigated by the NHTSA (reference case PE3-016) they found that the problem was caused by filling up the car with higher ethanol gas which was causing the gas shut-off float located inside the gas tank to swell and stick in the open position which allowed fuel to enter a purge line. Chrysler responded by extending fuel tank warranties TO153,817 vehicles, namely the V8 versions on the Chrysler 300S, Dodge chargers and Dodge magnums for the 2006 model year. The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300C. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 mph, the engine suddenly stalled. The vehicle restarted and resumed normally. The multiple failure only recurred after refueling and when traveling at low speeds. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.

The 2005 Chrysler engine failed without warning on the interstate in the middle of heavy traffic. I lost all engine power possibility facing a steering lock down without the capacity to steer the vehicle off the interstate. After prior engine internal maintenance and regular oil changes the engine still failed placing my family lives in jeopardy. I was able to steer the vehicle with more effort to the roadside safely. The Chrysler 2.7 liter engine according to manufactures and consumers reviews is an ongoing problem, could lead to the safety of drivers on the road check it out for yourself. This engine is prone to break down and should be reviewed for safety reasons, thank god I was not killed on the highway I had no escape, I could have been rammed from the back of the vehicle or if I or my family were foolish enough to get out of the vehicle we could have been instantly killed.

Once getting off the interstate and turning onto a frontage road, driving 35 mph my car lost power and stalled. I pulled onto the side of the road, turned my car off, and it turned back on. However, this problem has been occurring off and on since August 2013 (7-8xs). It most commonly stalls after filling up with gas. The steering wheel will often times become locked when trying to make a turn when the car stalls. The esp/bas light, check engine light, and a red light with a lightening bolt with vertical lines on each side of it (symbol not in Chrysler manual) all turn on when the car stalls. The car stalls 3-4xs before making it to the destination. I have brought my car in to an automotive repair shop 3xs and leave without any explanation of the current problem.

The car stalls out at slow speeds and this is occurring shortly after filling up the gas tank or when the tank is almost empty. If you do a google search on "300C stalling" you will literally see 1000's of complaints on this issue. The fix seems to be "replace the gas tank" according to the dealer/Chrysler. If this is the case and it's a known issue, why isn't Chrysler replacing everyone's tanks. I've been in several situations that were near miss accidents entering/exiting a parking lot into busy traffic or merging onto a freeway where the car stalled and I lost all power to the steering and brakes. This has happened several times since I owned the car (which I bought brand new) but at the time I thought maybe it was just basic vapor lock. As it turns out, that's not the case. This is a serious safety issue as you can imagine what could happen if you try to enter traffic from a parking lot or try to merge onto a freeway from an onramp and the car stalls out. Chrysler isn't stepping up to the plate to resolve this matter. To make matters worse, it seems only the original or early models of the vehicle are having this issue and likely all of them are out of warranty so there's no recourse to the consumer except to spend the money out of pocket for the parts and labor. The problem seems to occur when the car goes from an idle (or slow moving speed - 15/25 mph) to when you accelerate (speed at which you accelerate to is not a factor). Please advise/help.

Car has been stalling after every gas fill-up for the past couple of months unless I am traveling at a steady speed of over 20 mph for at least 15 miles after fill up. Stopping at a light or making a left turn and stalling out is a nightmare! it only happens after a fill up. At this point I try to guess at what point to turn off the gas when refueling to avoid this very dangerous condition.
