My headlight flicker on and off, and it's sometimes to the point where I can't see anything in the midst of driving. I was stopped by the police the other night due to my lights flickering. The officer thought that I was signaling other driver, or that I had an emergency. This problem that happened out of nowhere and can cause a dangerous problem. I feel that this is just one of many defects with this particular model and year of car.
Purchased this car used two years ago. After driving it for about a month, lights started flickering and one night while going down the local highway at night, 60 MPH lights, went off completely. Pulled off the road and waited and they eventually went back on. Terrified to finish driving home. Took it back to where I bought it (3 month warranty) and they took it to the Chrysler dealer to fix. I was told they "reprogrammed" it.
Did not have the problem again until last night when it started flickering again. Just a matter of time before they completely go out again at night on a dark country road. I can hardly wait. It's pretty exciting when that happens. Guess I'll have to take it back to a dealer and pay to have it fixed again. Apparently the "fix" only lasts 2 years. I hope no one gets killed before I'm able to get it in and (hopefully) get it fixed for awhile again. I guess it's time to trade it in but I hate to see someone else get stuck with this issue since Chrysler apparently has no interest in providing a permanent fix.
Update from Oct 14, 2014: Took the car to a Chrysler dealer today and they did not find any codes when they checked; wiring was checked and seemed okay; and the forward control module did not need to be reprogrammed. They suggested it might be a defective forward control module which would cost about $585 to have installed, and they could not say for sure that this would resolve the lights flickering. I have not had it done yet since it is so expensive.
