My grandma was driving her car in town and the dash cluster quit working. I tried checking fuses and did not find anything simple to fix the dash cluster to quit working. She took the car to the local Dodge dealer where the car was purchased. When they asked what happened explained that the dash cluster just quit working. They said that is very common issue. I think it is a safety issues because you can't see anything no mph, gauges of any sort fuel, temperature. When operating the car you have to guess when the dash cluster is not working.

This has now happened 3 times and has been taken to a mechanic every single time to get fixed. Every single time I am driving, I slow down to turn around a corner, my engine completely stops, vehicle speed slows down, everything else works fine. Will not restart, needs jumped every single time. Each time I've been left in the road hoping not to get hit. I've read multiple complaints about this everywhere. If an accident or a bigger problem comes out of this, I will be suing. I've already spent hundreds of dollars on this problem. Somebody needs to do something about this before my bank account or my car is wrecked.

On April 17, 2019, when arriving at destination, I attempted to shift gears into park. However, gears shifted into reverse permanently. I called my siblings to assist with getting the car out of reverse, the handle would move but the gears would not change. The only way we could get the car to stop was with the emergency break. We turned off the ignition, but all lights stayed on and we could not remove the key from the ignition. The only way to get the key out was to unhook the battery. I contacted the manufacturer the following day on April 18th, and they advised of a recall for shift cable bushing. I asked how long the process would take, they stated they would mail a letter to advise how to set up appointment, they would have to order parts. I called back on April 25th to inquire once again about how long the process usually takes, and they did not advise of a time frame. I advised the representative that my car cannot be driven at all, and asked if I were to get a rental car or get my car fixed myself would I be reimbursed. The representative advised that there is no guarantee. I've contacted the manufacturer once again on May 8, 2019. Representative advised that the part has still not been ordered and there is no estimated time.

I bought this car brand from the dealer. It has stalled on me and on occasions, it does nothing when I turn the key to start. Total electrical defect. Sent lemon law form and only got a new battery from Chrysler. The car still doesn't idle or run right. In the stalling scenario, the car was in motion. In the no start it was in park. I now have 117,000 miles on the car and feel defenseless to get a resolution. On occasions, the charging system light will come on as I turn the key off.

The car started randomly shutting off, at a stop or wouldn't start all together. After about a week of random stalling and shut offs, I took it to a mechanic. He said that it has a manufacturers defect where the car thinks it has low oil, it doesn't even have to be low. Have been adding oil and checking consistently for about a month and recently it refused to turn on. Got a jump and the car started. Had the battery and alternator checked at auto parts store, car started up no problem, and both were fine, battery fully charged. Not more than 10 minutes after testing the car would not turn on. Jumped it and it started, drove home. Again, tried to start it a few hours later and nothing, needed another jump. Used a scanner to check for computer issues and nothing came up. After driving the car about 10 miles, shut it off and again needed a jump. The car seems to just shut off or not start for no real reason. One mechanic could not figure out the issue, the other had it a couple of weeks before blaming the oil issue and now this. No recalls on this car, already checked the VIN number. Not sure what to do about this car at this point without spending more on it than it is worth. 2014 Dodge Dart, 98,000 miles

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Dart. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power and stalled. Also, the battery indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but they were unable to identify the cause of the failure. The contact called keller motors Inc (1795 S perryville blvd, perryville, mo 63775, (573) 547-1002) and was informed that the VIN was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted via email, but they did not respond. The failure mileage was 129,059.

For the last 4 months my vehicle shuts off as I'm driving. After 3 trips to the dealership for a few test they determine that due to low oil consumption the car has a sensor that shuts off the engine while driving. During one of these incidents my vehicle turned off as I was approaching an intersection in which the brakes did not work which lead me to slowly roll into the intersection on a red light. Luckily it was morning rush hour so no accidents occurred. I truly believe this vehicle needs to be recalled it's a safety hazard not only for me but also for others

Purchased 2014 Dodge Dart from Subaru of cherry hill, NJ dealership 5/2019 @ 44,000mi. Used. Excellent carfax. Since ownership, vehicle has stopped twice; once while slowed down to make a left turn, and again while stopped at a red light. Battery light did not come on either time. 3rd time vehicle didn't start after being parked for approximately 10 hrs. Needed to be jumped. After first incident of stopping, vehicle was towed to mechanic; couldn't find problem. Battery checked out as ok. Oil change performed at 47,351mi. Also, since being purchased, a slightly sweet smell comes out of fan. Does not go away. Concerned that the vehicle will stop while on a highway, causing a multi-vehicle crash. This seems very unsafe. Upon investigation, no recall was noted. Dealership called to discuss further without response. This is a very dangerous situation and there needs to be a recall. Many other drivers seem to have the same issues when searched online. Please help! most recent episode was 2/13/19.

  • 30,000 miles
I recently purchased my Dodge Dart 2014 in August of 2018. I purchased the car with around 26,000 miles on it. Great condition, excellent mileage, no accidents, and only one owner. I have only had the car for 5 months. I use it mainly as a commuter car. It started having issues almost as soon as we got it. They were first minor things. Until November 2018. My cars battery died and refused to start. I had to replace out of pocket due to it not being covered by warranty. It was having issues starting, I thought that it was due to it being cold (because it would be fine once it heated up), so at first thought nothing of it. It would start up and I would drive it less then a mile, I would start to slow down and everything would shut off. The heater and the lights would still be on but it would loose acceleration and the battery light would come on. It will do this multiple times until the car is warm(even then it will continue to do it afterward). RPM drops to zero, check engine, electronic throttle control, and battery light all come on. This is a safety hazard due to it stopping in traffic, on the highway, and in intersections. Something needs to be done about this issue. I have read up on this issue and see that I lot of people have this issue. My car is currently at 24% oil life, I will be testing to see if the issue is resolved(temporarily) like others have been. Due to fear of it not being covered under warranty I have not taken it to the dealer. They quoted me at $400 dollars for everything that could possibly be wrong (based off this information they have an idea of already what is wrong with the car. They still want me to come in and try to charge me for it because it most likely won't be covered by the warranty.

Went to get in my car and the alarm system activated and it will not start. Also the motor consumes oil at an alarming pace to the point I have to take oil with me when I go anywhere. Because if I don't it will get low and the car will lose all power while I'm driving down the road. This is unsafe and needs to be fixed asap especially since I have kids. Car still will not start

Car keeps stalling on road and not starting. This is an issue that needs to be rectified. Several others have reported the issues as well as far back as 2016. Dodge needs to do something on behalf of customers to clear this horrible safety hazard.

Engine shuts off while slowing down to turn or stop at stop sign or light. No warning lights before engine shuts down. Call Dodge dealer, was told to check oil and that it was common for Dodge Darts that oil was very low or empty and car would do that. Check and oil was empty or basically empty. Oil warning light did not come on even after engine shutdown this happened a couple of times in one week the last time I was almost hit from the rear I find this to be a very serious situation. I have no oil leaks so engine must have burned oil I still had 600 miles left to oil change. Oil light did not come on when it should have an engine should never shut down well still in motion!

Battery light comes on, once that occurs the radio goes pitch black and we lose total control over the radio and HVAC controls. The dash gauges shut off including turn signal blinkers and clicking sound. And whether the a.C. is on or not the heater defrost comes on full blast and I can't get it to turn off. Until the rear defrost and battery light is off. But it will immediately do it again. This problem occurs whether the car is in park, in drive but idling, while driving down the road and when turning left.

I bought a used 2014 Dodge Dart act in September 2017, in late December early January I brought car in to the dealership because it kept stalling out. They looked at it and said it was because the oil was low. Fast forward to May. I'm on the way to the store and my car stalls out while I'm driving with my 4yr daughter in the car. I got it started back up after a few mins but it stalled out after a min. Then again later in the night 3 more times in less then a quarter mile. This apparently is an ongoing issue amongst other dadge Dart owners. This problem could kill people and Dodge is doing nothing to rectify the situation.

I bought my 2014 Dart brand new in January of 2015. As of today (4/9/18), it has 47,200 miles on it. I was taking residential roads to drop my daughter off at school, slowing to stop at a stop sign and turn right. I thought I slowed too much and needed to slightly accelerate to get me to the stop sign. When trying to accelerate, I realized the car had stalled, but all inside lights and radio were still on. The "battery" light (charging system light) came on and stayed on until I turned the car off. I tried to restart the car, but all it would do was try to turn over. I know it's not the battery, as it was replaced less than 6 months ago. All terminals/connections to the battery and alternator are not loose. After trying to restart the car twice, it finally started on the third try with hesitation. From there, I was able to continue to the school (less than a mile - it's only 1.3 miles from my house to the school). When I got back home, I let the car sit for roughly 2-3 minutes and restarted it again - no hesitation. After looking for answers online, I've found at least 34 identical problems with no explanation and no help from Dodge/Chrysler. (except for one or two engine replacements). (carcomplaints.com) I am scared to drive my car to work, as I don't want it to stall on the highway and get in an accident, especially because I have two children that are picked up from my work. This is only going to cause a fatal accident if something isn't done about this. We've had nothing but problems with this car (radio freezes and restarts intermittently, transmission will shift hard, etc.).

This is a beautiful car however I have been smelling a chemical smell similar to melting plastic or rubber sinve I purchased it in January at 39,000 miles. My passengers also smell it. The dealership did not and they did not investigate further. Now the smell has gotten worse and is more like antifreeze and melting plastic. The smell happens most noticeably after exiting the highway and comingvto a stop. My passengers all notice it. I ride with the windows lowered slightly to bring in fresh air. Also the air conditioning has been turning on on its own, the backup camera recently stayed on for about a half mile after I changed from reverse to drive and began driving. Also their seems to be an occasional delay in accelleration whin shiftng gears.

Check engine light will flash while simultaneously the gear selections lights all glow red. Stability indicator signals loss as well as extremely rough shifting. Loss of reverse camera, moon roof, loss of auto windows both up and down, as well as practically all forward motion as if the transmission has suddenly stopped working. Once stopped safely and vehicle has been disabled I.T will not start without a series of steps prior to ignition. 1. press accessory button. 2. place in nuetral. 3. return to park. 4. open and close driver door. 5. apply foot to the brake pedal. 6. press ignition switch to start the vehicle. These steps allow the vehicle to become operational; however the check engine light will remain on for various lengths of time. The transmission now shifts less rough than during the initial malfunction. I have experienced this malfunction both while starting my car and during operation on the open road. At which point the vehicle becomes clearly unsafe to operate, due to loss of motion. I personally do not feel safe operating this vehicle alone and especially with my family aboard. I have researched this issue hours on end and found masses falling to the same vehicle malfunction. As of yet my specific VIN# has yet to be recalled regardless of the nature of the malfunctions. I charge you NHTSA to press upon Chrysler for safety of not only my family but all the others out in the world at risk due to faulty engineering and equipment.

This is the second time this has happened. The engine will stall randomly while driving. The first time it happened, we had to have it towed to the dealership. They said it was a sensor covered under warranty. Ok good. Well a few days after, the problem happened again. This time they say it's because the oil needed to be changed. The hud showed over 50% oil life left. The same issue happened again a few days ago. The problem seems to resolve after an oil change. I've noticed this has happened to a lot of people, but still no recalls. This is extremely dangerous. When the engine stalls, you loose power steering and brakes. This can cause a major accident. Luckily, it's only happened on surface streets. This issue needs to be looked into and fixed.
