When driving vehicle, vehicle stalled out and steering wheel became difficult to steer. When vehicle put in park, we were able to re-start. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Two day previous car stalled out while driving on a flat surface at about 35 mph. Steering wheel locked up and had to stop in center turn land completely, put in park, and re-start vehicle.

In the 12 months that we've owned our 2010 Dodge Caravan, the engine has shut-down in traffic multiple times. Each time it has nearly caused an accident. Dodge announced a recall but has not actually put it into action.

I was driving at about 30 mph when I noticed the air conditioner stop working. I began slowing down for a red light. When the light turned green I went to go and realized that the engine had stopped as well. I lost all power and engine function while driving. I was able to place the vehicle in park and restart it.

While turning a corner on my way to work at 5:30 am, my 2010 Grand Caravan with 13,835 miles totally went dead, I had the lights, blower on, the radio on and the rear defroster on, and everything went dead. No steering and the brakes were out. Since I was turning left, I had to cross 4 lanes of traffic with no power. I was able to pull into a parking lot, put the car in park and it restarted. I did have to turn the key to the off position and put it in park, as putting it in neutral and turning the key did nothing. I checked the Dodge website for the recall information and it says that my vehicle is not in the listing of recalled vehicles. I have sent an email to Dodge. This did happen 2 to 3 previous times while driving on the freeway, but the car just seemed like it was losing power, but then it came back to life-it did not have a total loss of power and it did not require me to restart the engine.

Vehicle shut off while in drive. Appears to be Chrysler safety recall L02. We were planning to go on vacation tomorrow and brought the vehicle to john johnson Dodge in boonton, NJ. We were told they could find nothing wrong and thought it was a problem with the key. I called Dodge at 800-543-1403 upon learning of the recall to find out why my vehicle was not repaired. I spoke to a man named [xxx] and was told the recall was not official yet. He then hung up on me. The call take place at approximately 8:15pm est. Lemon vehicle but dealer states that it is not: 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 4.0L, intermittent stalling of the engine without warning or service lights, will restart. Stalling began in June 2010, was purchased in 3/10. Dealer has not been able to replicate the stalling failure due to the intermittent nature. Repairs attempted: Reprogramming, moving a wiring harness, replacement of wireless control module. Seems to stall more on left turns, or when outside temperatures are 90+ degrees for long periods. Also had to have rear brakes and rotors replaced due to premature warping and brake failure: Repair replaced components, only to still have driver side working harder than left and front brakes, finally oil leak appeared and diagnosis was a failed oil cooler, repair: Replace oil cooler: To be done on 10/4/10. Overall vehicle is unsafe due to the unannounced stalling issue.

Cruise control active on our 2010 Grand Caravan. When going down long hill, transmission will down shift on own-3 gear levels-hard & RPM as observed on tac approached 5000. Had to disengage cruise. Dealer had no error code. Contacted Chrysler. This was a problem on 2009's. supposedly fixed for 2010. Chrysler is aware and working on fix. This occurred on two occasions at 3200 and 3740 miles. When taken to Dodge service dept., I was instructed to not use cruise on hills of this type in the future. Some answer.

2010, Dodge Grand Caravan ~ this is the fourth time I have been driving around with my three young children and the van has died entirely. It is lucky that we have just been in town. I hold my breath the entire time we are on the highway at all (which isn't often, thankfully). I am terrified that we will be killed in an accident if this were to happen on the highway!! I am not sure what they intend to do about it, they say they are going to replace the key module... and that I am to tell them if it happens again. We will be on the highway for a long time going on vacation and I am not confident this will resolve the problem.

When speed control is on and active at highway speed, when going down a hill the transmission will downshift 3rd gear level very hard and the engine will go into a high RPM rev. Turned off speed control or stepping on the brakes this condition continued for 30 seconds. Took car to dealership, there was no check engine light or error codes in the computer or any factory recall on this condition. This problem happened multiple times. Dealership has to get in touch with factory to get help with this problem. Can't use speed control where hills are involved, or not at all. This option or function is bad! the consumer was told not to use the speed control and to shut it off when traveling down hill. But, it was ok to use up hills or on level roads. The vehicle could shut off when the engine revving is too high, but it was not a safety issue. Having no power brakes or steering was definitely a safety issue. Chrysler informed the consumer they were going to look into possible software updates or a mechanical fix to correct the problem. They did not feel it would be a quick fix, so the consumer would have to live with the defect. Updated 07/13/10

Supplemental to case 10315972. First event 2/10/10. After repeated complaints to the dealer, Dodge installed computer to catch codes during next event. After one week and no more incidents, they removed the computer. Have not been driving the van since then. Too scared. Drove today 5/12/10 and shut down again. This time upon accelerating from parking lot speed of about 6-8 miles as the doors automatically locked the engine cut out. Scheduled to take to the dealer for them to take a look at it.
