Tipm failing. Our 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan only has 78,000 miles on it, yet the tipm is causing all sorts of problems. The biggest issue is that the vehicle won't start on occasion, and it's progressively getting worse. The engine turns over, but it doesn't start after several attempts. This happened again today. Other times it won't even turn over. When it doesn't turn over, we usually put the vehicle into neutral and back into park, then it usually starts. We've also had the check engine light come on many times. One set of codes was for a camshaft positioning sensor, so we replaced those. Then a couple weeks later it did it again, so we had them replaced again. After a few months we then had the light come on and the dealership eventually had the PCV hose and valve replaced, then the lifters, rockers, tappers, etc. On the right side (not part of the left-side recall). We have had doors randomly open, lock or unlock. Windows have opened without us activating the switch. A few times the alarm (horn) has sounded and we have to press the button on the fob several times to shut it off. The car also shut off once while my wife was driving on the road, which is very frightening. The tipms in these vehicle are faulty, no matter what Dodge says. Check the complaints on the carcomplaints website.

The tipm module completely failed causing damage to the fuel pump. From preliminary research this is a known issue that Dodge has failed to address with this model. Vehicle will not start. Have had intermittent propulsion issue which causes the vehicle to be sluggish thus causing a danger to driver and occupants in traffic situations

Van won't start, or shuts off randomly, including while driving. When driving, the engine dies and power steering is lost, making controlled stopping difficult and unsafe. I tested for tipm fuel relay problem using information available online & found it faulty. Had to rig a bypass from aux power terminal to fuel pump fuse to power fuel pump at all. This is a known issue for this and other Dodge/Chrysler vehicles, some of which NHTSA pushed for recall, but not all!!!! this needs recall reconsideration, given how common this problem is across multiple other vehicles that use the exact same tipm. There are literally dozens of videos and hundreds of web posts covering this issue, yet NHTSA has done nothing further, nor has any recall been provided for. When will this get addressed?

I bought my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan crew in Feb 2018. In March my tire sensors starting going off, we replaced all of them with no luck, the gauges would still read they were out. In April, the camshaft sensor went out while we were on vacation, and we replaced it, in Florida. In may the camshaft sensor went out again, shortly after having it replaced for the second time, but guess what? it happened a 3rd time! only a week later!!!! so yet again, it was replaced. Our van would start acting possessed. Wipers would go off while driving down the road & while they were in the off position. The locks would lock and unlock by themselves while driving, seemed like every time it rained out windows would roll down by themselves over night or while we were in a store while the van was shut off. In June the van started stalling while we would drive it. It would randomly die while idling. In July/Aug I had my oil changed, the following day my van wouldn't start. While in the moment I thought the shop had done something to it, since I had gotten frustrated with them there, (poor fellas) that clearly was not the case. I was under the impression my fuel pump had went out, so I paid to have that replaced. Around Sept the van wouldn't start. It would crank but not start. My fuel pump would turn on, after turning the key on and off several times. In Oct the fuel pump would run while the van was off, we had to disconnect the positive on the battery so it wouldn't burn up. At this point, my van wouldn't start at all, and the van acted like it was dead. I went and bought a new battery, day after I replaced that, my van needed to be jumped each time I wanted to start it. Today on Oct 22- is my last straw. Thanks fca, a mother and her two young children had to find a ride home because it stalled and shut down while sitting in a drive thru.

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the battery and brake indicators illuminated. An independent mechanic replaced the alternator assembly, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the powertrain control module needed to be replaced. The dealer (ganley Chrysler of Aurora, 161 w garfield rd, Aurora, oh 44202, (330) 562-2600) indicated that the vehicle would need to be diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure and that the vehicle was not included in any recall campaigns. The manufacturer was notified and also stated that there was no recall. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. The VIN was unknown.

Battery light comes on after reaching speeds around 40/50, than the brake lights come and ABS light, car suddenly turns off no longer runs. You guys should have a recall on all alternators and PCM for this vehicle. My wife is pregenat and she got stranded in the middle of a high way because of your faulty vehicle. This car needs to be on a recall for all of those faulty alternators and PCM. Not reliable tumbs down for this car, dissapointed on Dodge.

Severe electrical issue with engine shutdown while driving on highway, stalls at intersections after dash lights "go crazy, " no-start, all dash lights on/off, wipers randomly going on, doors and windows inoperable, killing new batteries, brake light sporadically functional, and A/C in rear randomly changes settings. These incidents occur at random periods with no specific causation.

The sliding door on the drivers side locked shut. We arrived home from an outing on the evening of 8-23-2018 and could not open door. Being elderly and disabled I was almost unable to get out of the van. The same thing happened in June, 2017 on the right side door. No one was in the car at the time. We were getting ready to leave and the door would not open. The car was under warranty. The dealer replaced the 'door lock actuator'. I feel this is a safety issue as someone could be trapped in the vehicle. Auto is no longer under warranty. I feel it is the same problem as before on the right back door. I feel there should be a way to open the door manually.

The tipm in our van has failed, it is a known and common issue for Chrysler and they refuse to acknowledge the issue or do anything to fix the issue. It causes multiple electrical system failures and ultimately renders the engine useless at random times when the relay fails. My car will no longer start due to the failure of this part, and the known issues with it.

The van's engine shutdown while my wife was driving the van at night and barely had enough time to pull to the side of the road before losing control of steering. She had just made a right turn onto the highway. Towed the van to a local dealer and found the issue to be the diode on the alternator failing causing electrical feedback to the powertrain control module (PCM). So had to spend a lot of money to have the alternator and PCM replaced. I am aware other vehicle lines of 2011 have a recall for this specific issue and am unsure why the Dodge Grand Caravan is not on the list. There needs to be an investigation and have this vehicle added to the recall.

My van has had electrical type issues since we purchased it, but in the last couple years they have imagnified. Every issue starts with the car smoking and some sort of light coming on (engine, battery etc..) many times I take it in and the dash light is no longer illuminated or they can not find anything wrong with it and reset the electrical panel. I have replaced the battery numerous times, alternator three times (last time it was completely burnt out and the time before it was completely melted). Transmission lines and coolant lines. The last time my headlights were replaced the wires were charred and frayed. Last night my son was pulled over by the police because the officer noticed the car was smoking. He popped the hood to let the smoke clear (my son said the smoke had a copery taste). After it cleared the van started and drove fine. This is after having the alternator replaced (for the third time) just last week. The technicians at the shop have never seen these kinds of problems before and the guy at interstate battery said he has never seen a car deplete a battery like mine does. With all these issue being associated with the words melting, charring, smoking, it really concerns me that one day my van is going to catch on fire or blow up and this is not normal for any vehicle, but especially one that has been taken care of and maintained. I have friends with the same van and similar mileage (155,000) and they have not had any of these issues. I contacted Dodge who referred me to the NHTSA and the local dealership. Please help!!!

My 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan has stalled out on us 3 times on the freeway with no warning. After waiting got about 40min. To an hour it starts right up like there's no problem. Recently the van stalled out while I was towing my small camper. When I take it to get checked out no problem can ever be found. This is so dangerous and there should be a recall on this. This other article I recently read at www.chryslerproblems.com/trends/tipm/ actually says 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan has this issue mostly than other years. This is very unsafe. I have read multiple complaints online of many many people having the same issue and this is extremely unsafe. The part is very expensive for us to fix when the company knows about this problem. Thanks,
