Malfunctioning tipm with random opening of windows and sliding door, inability to start engine. This model should be included with other Chrysler models under recall. The internet is full of anecdotal evidence the most concerning is loss of power/stalling while driving at highway speeds in heavy traffic. I'm the latest victim and unhappy with nhsta response to complaints. Car stationary.

The van tries to start but it never turns over. I was driving down the interstate at around 70 mph and the van stalls out. I was able to get it to the side of the road and called a tow truck to take it to the dealer. Dealer stated that I need a tipm module and it was going to cost $1500. This is the same module that was issued a recall on two other Dodge vehicles. This is the same module!! this needs to be issued a recall as well. I don't know why they thought that putting the same module in a recalled vehicle the same problem wouldn't arise. This is bs.

The car has been shutting off while my wife is driving with my kids in the car. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice now for the same problem. I just got my car back yesterday 6/28/16 after the dealership had been working on it for a month and half. While my wife was driving today 6/29/16 the same thing happened again. It happens suddenly without any warning so there is no way for her to pull over, she has to remove the ignition key right where she is at and then turn the car back on. This is very concerning because it can cause an accident since there is no way of telling when the car will shut off. I have read many complaints about the same thing happening to other people with same problem. I do not understand why this vehicle has not been recalled.

Vehicle won't start you can turn the key for 8 to 10 minutes at a time before it will start. The vehicle also loses power while going up an incline or going in reverse. This is a huge safety concern with it losing power while driving. Not to mention this has lead to a lot of late shifts to work and kids to school and appointments. Was told that my tpim has gone bad which is super expensive when you are making payments on the vehicle and living paycheck to paycheck. This is progressively becoming a huge problem as everyday it takes a little longer for the vehicle to start. Why was the grand Jeep Cherokee and Dodge durango recalled for this issue but not the 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan??

Well from the time I purchased the car I told the dealer about the ignition. The car speeding off while I'm driving in a regular street or highway. The warning lights doesn't warn. Enough is enough. Riding in the car in street yesterday once again the steering wheel locked in me in traffic and it shut down. No warning. So dangerous. There is no way there should be so many complaints about the same issues and they not have a recall and repairs.my alternator actually fried and we could have been killed along with my children!!!! I'm scared. Im paying $500 dollars a month for a vehicle that is sitting and I can't drive. Please give hello me to get justice.

The key fobs weren't working properly, and the car wouldn't start properly. It would crank well but not catch. Eventually I could persuade it to start. Klaben auto (kent, oh) replaced a key fob (+?) for $1114.27, but the car still wouldn't start properly. When I took it back, they replaced the fuel pump, but this didn't address the problem. Then they replaced the tipm, which solved the problem with starting., for an additional $697.53

I have had my van since 2013, and have had repeated problems with it not starting. I attempt over and over to start the car using the key, but it receives no power. Eventually it will start, but this is very frustrating. I was told my a mechanic it is the tipm that is malfunctioning. I have also noted another issue that when I turn off the van and remove the key, there is still a motor of some sort running, it sounds like a low key hum coming from the console. I am concerned about both of these issues.

My 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan, which I bought used at 33,000mi and it had under 47,000mi when the issue started happening, failed to start after the first few attempts. It would eventually start after 5-10 attempts. I noticed it would usually have that issue when the vehicle had not been started within a few hours. Once it started, it ran fine and if turned off would start back up fine. Dealership initially diagnosed the coolant temp sensor but did not fix the situation. They called Chrysler for any inputs on what the issue could be and were told it most likely is the tipm. The following is what they wrote on my work order: "using power probe found voltage from fuel pump to low to maintain proper fuel pressure. Using power probe added voltage through M37 fuse and found vehicle to operate as intended." The repair totaled to $1,000. That does not include the $300+ repair for the temp. Coolant sensor that did not fix the issue. This is absurd to believe the tipm is recalled on the Jeep and durango but not the Caravan when it clearly is having the same issues in many forums across many websites. I called Chrysler and was told there is nothing they can do since my vehicle is out of warranty and that specific part is not recalled. It is clear Chrysler will not attempt to fix the situation until told to.

While driving, the vehicle will shut off at random times. This has happened several times during the last 2 months. We recently took the vehicle in, but, the problem did not occur while the repair shop had it, so, they did not replace anything. There are no specific circumstances that will cause this to happen. It has happened several times while traveling at high speed on the interstate. There is a recall for the 2008-2010 model year Grand Caravan that have suffered the same problem. The recall addresses the ignition switch on those vehicles.

Car shuts off suddenly up (stall while driving on the highway), lost all power, brake and steering wheel are affected make impossible to drive safely the vehicle. This causes problems to safely put you out off the road. Also, we have problems to turn on the vehicle in the mornings, and consumes up to the death a new battery car in months (less than a year). As per the Dodge dealer this problems is caused due a faulty tipm and a bad fuel gas pump. Replace both will cost around $2,000 usd. Looking over the web this security threat it is a common issue for Dodge Grand Caravan 2011-2012. Grand Cherokee and durango for the same years have recalls for this situation, but not the Grand Caravan. This is a security issue documented for the Cherokee and the durango that should apply to the Grand Caravan as it is the same problem. I hope that your Agency will be able to intervene with this serious problem.

While driving home, a burning smell came from the air vents after turning on the heater. Immediately shut off the heater and pulled over to check the vehicle. Turned the car off lifted the hood. Performed visual inspection nothing noted, slight burning smell but no indication of anything out of place. Restarted the car and continued home using hazards and minimal speed. After four minutes dash indicator of battery came on immediately going out and the lightning bolt appeared. This was followed by ABS, traction control, airbags and check engine light illuminating. Odometer flat lined even though car was still running. Then the entire car died while doing forty mph. Power steering and brakes went stiff. I was able to turn into a parking lot and turned off ignition. Checked under hood again nothing wrong visually. Contacted insurance company for a tow to neatest dealership. The next day received call from dealership saying the alternator(160 amp) was completely fried and had a blown cell in the battery which was only 15 months old. Dealership quoted $1100 repair price and was still unsure if any other systems had been affected. Would not be able to determine until new battery and alternator had been replaced. In September of 2014 replaced the tipm( totally integrated power module) after multiple starting failures and continually running fuel pump had been found, and now 18 months later my alternator fails with no warning or indications. In addition the same alternator is listed under a Chrysler defect number P60, however Chrysler informed me because my car is not on the list it doesn't apply.

What isn't wrong with my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. Slowly everything is wrong and I'm finding out it's all related. First I just thought it was possessed when the windows rolled themselves down. Then it wouldn't want to turn over. I replaced the battery. I thought the problem was solved for about two weeks till it started acting up again. Now it never wants to start and will shut off on me while driving down the highway. I loose all power including steering. I know when the power goes out on the lift gate that the van is not going to start. Most recently the fuel pump kept running with the van shut off causing the battery to go dead. If it doesn't short out or what ever it does to act completely dead. I have read that I need to replace my tipm (total integrated power module) but that chrystler hasn't fixed the problem. So I will basically be paying about $1200 for a new defective part or drive down the highway with my kids in the van and hope I don't loose all power in the middle of traffic!!
