Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

CarComplaints.com Notes: This is a classic example of why you should avoid the first model year of a new car. Sure, it's new and shiny but there's going to be some growing pains.

The 2005 Magnum has problems with the gear shifter getting stuck, a shaky and sometimes stalled engine and transmission failure at 75,000 miles.

Let someone else deal with those headaches.

The car shuts down to a crawl. Can't get any codes from it. First time it happened was on the highway pulled to the side of the road and restarted ran fine for the rest of the day. Getting worst every since now sitting in the driveway no codes afraid to put the family in it.I think Dodge discontinued because they can't keep up with the problems

When driving or sitting still the bas light comes on, car goes to 800 RPM idle and transmission goes into neutral. Car cannot be driven until I come to a stop, put car into park and turn ignition off. Vehicle can then be restarted and driven again until it does this again, either a minute later or a month later. This is very dangerous when driving in traffic and I have almost been hit by tractor trailers while trying to pull over and go again. Air bag light has been on since I bought car and dealer will not fix it.

The car will not shift out of park. The shift interlock latch is defective. There is a recall on many other similar cars. Recall K39. Our car should be included in that recall.

1). on 7-31-13, I got into my car and started it in my driveway, the shift knob would not come out of park position. I called aaa to tow it to finnegan Dodge in rosenberg, tx. The dealer replaced shift assembly. Paid $390.36. Since then, car still will not come out of park to go into gear most of the time. I have to pump brake pedal about 4 to 5 times before it would go into gear. 2) received airbag recall and called finnegan Dodge, and dropped off vehicle on 6-22-15. Mileage was 82,058. Dealer stated they replaced driver airbag inflater and tested the system. I picked up car on 6-23-15 and the passenger airbag warning light started coming on at any given time whether there was a passenger or not. I did not have these problems until airbag work was done. Called several times and said someone will call back, but never did. I called on 7-24-15, and they scheduled me to bring the car back on 8-5-15. Hopefully, they won't charge me for their mess-up. Updated 09/14/15. Updated 08/04/16.

While driving down the highway or sitting in park, the bas light on the dash will come on, when it does this the engine goes to 800 RPM idle and the transmission goes into neutral, rendering of the vehicle in capable of driving until the vehicle comes to a complete stop, is placed in park, ignition shut off and restarted. Then you can operate the vehicle again until the next time it does this, which may be one minute or a week. This is extremely dangerous as it is happening to me going down the highway a couple of times, at which time I have to pull over to the shoulder shut the vehicle off restart the vehicle and then try to pull away. Twice I've almost been hit by semi tractor-trailers as the vehicle is coasting with no power. Please help me, I am in fear for my life if I drive this vehicle.

I was stopped at light. The light turned green. I pressed the accelerator pedal. Something exited the passenger side of engine block causing a large hole. Catastrophic engine failure ensued. I turned the ignition to the off position. I turned the hazard lights on. I coasted to the nearest side road where I stopped the vehicle. I finished my morning coffee waiting for a tow truck there were no accidents, crashes, fires or injuries other than that done to my hemi pride.

After filling up the car with gas it stalls and you lose steering and brake control, very dangerous and my wife is now scared to drive the car. Stalling went away after an hour trying to get home. Next morning seemed to run fine. Next fill up did the same thing. This problem is going to cause deaths for sure if it has not already. Contacting the dealer asap to see if they have others with same issue.

Crowhopping is the term used by most websites google crowhopping Magnum rt AWD tells it all on multiple websites with multiple customers..Dodge has seem to term a blind ear to this year model that seems to have the same as another year with the issue. Contacted dealer main office...and they said they never heard of this no surprise.

After many conversations with Chrysler associates, and many internet searches...there is an on going problem with the 2005 Dodge Magnum AWD systems. Apparently Dodge used a friction disk setup in the transfer case, after time the left over debris and minerals clog the disks and cause a horrible shutter at low speeds during "parking lot maneuvers." This issue was resolved in later years, but I see it ridiculous that just about every 2005 AWD is affected by this and this is listed as a tsb and not a recall. Since Dodge will cover this under their power train warranty I see this as a ridiculous request to make people pay the service charge to have the clutch pack removed and have the fluids changed, when the Chrysler corporation feels it was and issue enough to cover it under there power train warranty.

Attempted to drive vehicle, could not get shifter out of park...completely stuck. Looked on the internet only to find thousands of others with same issue. I.called dealer for apt, they knew right away what the problem was...apparently an issue with Dodge challenger, Magnum and Chrysler 300. Totally unacceptable that I had to pay $378 at the dealer for a known issue...the pink thingy it is called. A plastic piece that breaks...this should be a recall, I could have been stranded who knows where...and the advise on the internet as self repair is scary and potentially dangerous.

Chrysler vehicles, Dodge Magnum, Dodge charger and Chrysler 300 have an issue that causes the shifter to get stuck in park, and will not shift. This leaves many drivers stranded causes them to need towing assistance to have the vehicle moved. I was stuck and needed a tow and the tow truck driver informed me that mine was the sixth one he had done that day. My insurance company informed me that this was a very common problem with the Chrysler vehicles. The issue happens to many vehicles most of which were not covered under Chrysler K39 recall. Chrysler did some maneuvering to get out of covering all the cars affected with the issue. The issue is for a faulty part in the shifter assembly of cars from 2005-2007. They got out of covering all of the cars by narrowing the recall to specific vehicles made in a specific location instead of covering all vehicles with the faulty part. Kind of like committing fraud. They seem to be able to get away with it because there are no child safety or death related issues.

The transmission (gear shift) was stuck in park. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and I, as owner was notified that there was no recall on my year of vehicle. There was a recall on years 2008-2010. Then I had to pay $287 for labor costs and $12.97 for the part. $301.01 total. I strongly feel I should be reimbursed. Please contact me as soon as possible to resolve this matter. I am an elderly woman and I live on a fixed income. I feel this matter should fall under the recall for safety purposes.

Drove vehicle for about 30 minutes at 70F ambient. Turned off vehicle and was away from it for about 10 minutes. Restarted engine and it had little if any compression and made a bad metal banging sound when started. Engine destroyed. Dealership analysis revealed #3 intake valve seat fell out of head and destroyed #3 piston and cylinder requiring a new engine. Vehicle has 91,000 miles.

If I fill my tank and I drive it away from the pump, it will stutter, hesitate, jerk, then die. I lose all power steering, brakes, engine. Afterwards, it won't immediately restart. It will start again after a few minutes. It won't start driving good again until I run the gas level down a little. After I fill, it will run ok until I make a turn or come to a stop, something that will slosh the fuel in the tank again then it will act like it is starved for fuel. This happens everytime I fill my tank. If I don't fill it completely then it will do it. It never did this when I first bought my car. One time after I this happened, I opened the gas cap and it was hissing and spitting gas just sitting there. This is a very dangerous situation as if this happened on the highway I could become involved in a collision. It has happened at least a half dozen time and have since not filled my tank up until today and it happened again.
