Ram 1500 1500 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,000 miles

I recently bought a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L 4x4 quad cab short box from a private seller and the truck is beautiful inside and out...but the guy had the transmission flushed at some general service place before i bought it and i drove it around for a week and when i drive it for a while the transmission starts to slip. Ive talked to a few ppl that own dodges and some said they need a special kind of transmission fluid and if they put the wrong kind in then it will slip and others say that your not supposed to flush the transmission fluid...i dunno but it is pissin' me off! Does anyone think that the transmission is going out of it?? I'm going to get it re-flushed by a dodge dealership and see if that helps if not than im looking for a automatic transmission w/ towing package for it...F*CK!!!

Ram 1500 4x4 5.9L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Noticed a few times while driving the truck at fairly high RPM/acceleration (getting on a highway on ramp) that at the auto transmission shift point, the engine was jumping and surging then after I let off the gas slightly, it shifted to the next gear.

Ram 1500 5.9L

I have had no problems with this truck and have been ultimately very pleased. Just noticed this slippage in the transmission at the beginning of the month. It doesn't do it all the time and seems quit slipping once you begin rolling. It doesn't slip in Reverse though.

If anyone has any solution to this, I'd sure like to hear it. Thanks, Greg
