Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

I am writing to complain about the recall process in general. I received a recall on a vehicle we purchased for our son. He drives it everyday. The notice indicated to call on Feb 23. So far I have had 4 dealers tell me they don't even have parts to fix the issue and that we could be looking at 6-8 weeks. Today I have 1 tell me that there are 2 recalls on this vehicle. 1 for each airbag. Does this process seem broken when something as crucial to driver and passenger safety takes 6-8 weeks to correct. Really? let's just roll the dice I guess and hope nothing happens between now and the time we are able to get this addressed. What's more troubling is I am told that the recall we received for the passenger airbag does have parts on the way, albeit 6-8 weeks away, the passenger side airbag parts are not even in the works. Are you kidding me.

I received the recall notice for the airbags and went to the dealer for repairs. (West hills Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 900 West hills blvd. Bremerton, wa 98312 and was told it will take up to 6 months to get the parts for the repair. Why do I have to wait 6 months for a safety recall?? I'm driving an unsafe vehicle and your liability is increasing with each passing day.

After receiving the recent safety recall notice regarding air bags, I took my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab to southern Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram located in Norfolk, va. My vehicle was inspected, and I was informed by a representative that the air bags would need to be replaced. The rep. Also stated that the required parts would be ordered, but due to a backlog/shortage, it would be approximately two weeks (minimum) until the required parts arrived. I inquired about having the air bags deactivated as a safety precaution since they meet the criteria to be replaced. The representative stated it would not be possible to deactivate the air bags because doing so would violate federal regulations. I find it highly unacceptable that I now have to drive my vehicle, for the next two weeks (minimum), with a known safety defect.

My mom and I were heading home from church when this man in a pickup ran the stop light and totaled my pickup, my mom had to be taken to the hospital because of a head injury and other injuries. The police came out and no one was ticketed. Anyway I got ahold of Chrysler and they sent me a letter in the mail stating that since it was not a head on collision they were not responsible. They said that since in was from the side, that it did not matter if the air bag deployed or not. My pickup passenger side air bag did not deploy this is why my 82 year mom was seriously hurt! my question is why are air bags put in vehicles or required if they are not going to work? I don't have the money or the means to hire a lawyer, and I'm without a vehicle and have been for quite awhile. The big 3 auto makers should be held responsible for all of the air bag problems that are going on even if they do not deploy! any help from you folks would be appreciated. P.S. I had to guess on my actual mileage but I know it was over 65,000. I apologize for bothering you folks but I need help.
