Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

: the contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to hydroplane. The vehicle spun around 3-4 times while applying the brakes. Upon impact, the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle hit a concrete divider with the front end and ended up on the concrete divider with the rear end. The vehicle was driven home, there was no police report taken. Airbags did not deploy during a head on collision. The backseat seatbelt also did not lock when the collision occurred, which resulted in my child's car seat moving forward and allowing the child to sustain head trauma during the accident. The passenger of the vehicle sustained injuries. The driver sustained bruised ribs from hitting the steering wheel. The truck had quite a bit of frontal damage and took several weeks to repair. I assumed the airbags would've been checked during the time the repairs were done at a local Dodge dealership.

NHTSA campaign 01V153000. Daimler/Chrysler issued a clock spring recall. This vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN although it experienced the same problem that was mentioned in the recall. The consumer had accidents on two separate occasion in which the air bags did not deploy.

problem #1

Jun 032004

Ram 1500 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,500 miles
Horn would sound with engine off and on (no alarm system) for up to 40 min. Any time of day. Steady sound! then shut off. No onset. Had to pull fuse to stop resulting in no horn at all. Consequences: Irate neighbors, road rage from surrounding drivers. Replaced T control module and clockspring. Dealer preformed repair. Has old parts. Seems to be fixed. Took 12 days.
