Others have mentioned this problem. Vehicle lurches when starting from a dead stop. Revs/grinds loudly in first gear. Other gears seem okay.

One piece of advice. If you have Transmission problems, avoid AMMCO at all cost. I start having problems shifting into reverse. Sometimes it was a delay, sometimes it was a hard shift between 2-3 and reverse. Well, AMMCO told me that a needed a transmission rebuilt, a $2100 job, so I went to my local mechanic for a second opinion. It turns out I had a faulty solenoid, and the replacement of the solenoid ended up costing $450 instead of the $2100. I also discover that Ford knows about the problem with the solenoid (made by Bosh), but they won't take care of the problem unless you are under warranty. Saddly I learned that Fords are notorious for transmission problems.

After 5 year with the Sport trac, I can honestly say that Ford is not worth the money they ask for their vehicles. My next car won't be a Ford. This is not the only problem I have had with this vehicle.

I too am having trouble with my FORD EXPLORER. the transmission is very hard to shift into rev and is sluggish going into anyother gear and as well as others that are having the same flipping proublem the od light and service engin light is now comming on. and i thought that i would check the transmission fluid to see maybe it was low but to my surprize no dipstick. who would think a car with out a dip stick to check fluids? ya there is a dip stick i think that it was me for ever buying a ford in the first place. never agian. this piece of crap is going to cost me money that i dont have. my girlfriend is going to have a baby i need money for her not to fix a proublem with a car that others are having the same thing going on and that the makers of the car have known about and have gotten hundreds of other complaints about the same damm thing. fords suck! my girlfriends dad has a chevy he makes fun of the fact that i have a ford and like a jack ass i defended it .not no more my next car is going to be a chev . and i pitty anyone that buys a ford think first.
