Ford needs to replace all plugs in Ford cars and trucks free from 2005 through 2008 because they made a boo boo. If i knew about these crazy plugs ahead of time, it would still be on the lot

1 plug in each head broke off, 9-11002 miles. Had to pull heads and send out to get heads remained. New head gaskets, massive labor, ship & return to a machine shop. Lesson relearned: When buying a new car find out last few years problems first. Does timing belt need changed every 60000 (Kia does!).

This vehicle has had three of four wheel bearings replaced. My formula:Run the vehicle into the ground doing all oil changes & maintenance. So far my costs have not yet exceeded $5000 per year which would be $425 a month. So far for 126000 miles I have $6000 in repairs since 2007. I did one brake job at Ford dealer and got ripped. I have an excellent small shop with owner and two mechanics. They have access to all notices & tech info & parts.

Never EVER use a Ford dealer except under the warranty mileage limit. My cruise control died at 35500 miles so I lucked out. The crap radio died at 30000 under warranty & again at 95000 miles. I self-replaced radio with a unit from Crutchfield. I almost forgot:one spark plug coil died at 95000. Engine performs well. Tranny sealed until 150000 when I suppose they to break into it for a fluid change.

I wrote Ford about the wheel bearing obvious manufacturing defects but, as expected, they blew me off. Bottom line: Buying a new car is a crap shoot & once you're out the door the dealer will say in the future,"I never knew ye. Git!" A/C made it to 120000 before dying. I plan on running whatever is left to 200000 unless my financial formula above kicks in. The 2003 Kia alternator died at 57000 & Kia replaced it.Ford would have said "Tough S__t."

Update from Oct 15, 2015: 128000 miles draft shaft bearing failing ( already replaced 3 out of 4 wheel bearings). Cost: $ 780 at independent shop because Ford forces a complete draft shaft assembly (can't just do the bearing). No more Fords, GM, Chrysler Jeep, Volkswagon. Only Japanese & Scandanavians left ?

Update from Nov 25, 2015: At 130000 now. Drive shaft shot...whole thing must be replaced ( not just the defective joint)...a Ford way to get more $$$ out of you; also both lower ball joints (DS was missed on famious "Multi-Point Inspection").c.Cruise had gone out 35,000(warr) again 95000, but 3 wheel bearings (mfr problem, hello!).Radio crapped out 32000(warr),91000 (did a Cructhfield replace).Ford Detroit blew me off on the 3rd wheel bearing (about 20000 miles ago...lost one every 10000-15000 starting 70000).I'd dropped GM when I got this new 2007...good bye Ford! Wife's Kia going good 150000 with no "Capital Fixes". Doing foreign where possible(yes I know they are all multinational).Consumer Reports is now my Vehicle Bible.Hope Ford Detroit Harvard Geeks read this Duh. Engine "still" runs, 4th bearing still holding up (how strange is that?)

Update from Jul 9, 2016: 137000 miles engine is toast. I thought I had a sticking lifter (tapping). Ran some Risilone for 100 miles after heard tapping for 50 miles. Timing Chain broke. This 2007 Ford Sport Trac has been total trash for me: $3000 spark plug change, 3 wheel bearings replaced, driveshaft (total unit, Ford not let you get a segment to fix a drive shaft), now engine toasted because engine a zero interference engine and valves/pistons smashed when the chain broke. I've been terribly disappointed with GM in the past and tried Ford. No more American-based cars for me (Ford, GM, Chrysler)....only the TIMING CHAIN BASED ENGINES of Honda, Hyundai, Subaru, Kia in the future. U.S.

This is a very common problem that can result in thousands of dollars repair cost just to do a tune-up (Replace Spark Plugs). Before this one of "Ford Has a Better Idea" design problems it cost about $200.00 dollars for Ford's Spark Plug Service and somewhat less cost for Non OEM Shops.

The problem is the reaction between the Stainless portion of the Plug and Aluminum Heads causing carbon buildup and essentially "welds " these pieces together.

Once you have reached this point you must then buy specialty tools to remove the remaining pieces that requires many more hours @ $75.00 to $100.00 per hour. When that doesn't work or some of the non metalic pieces fall into the cylinder you must then remove the engine and then remove the heads. About 20 hrs and $500.00 to $600.00 in parts and supplies.

Finally, when this work is performed at the Ford Shop....... They make a nice PROFIT!

Here is my History with Purchasing new Fords / Lincolns:

My first new Ford a 1973 F250 4x4, then a New 1976 Ford Ranchero, a New 1984 Bronco II, 4 New F150 Company Trucks over the next few years, New 1990 F150, New 1991 F250, 2 New F150 Company Trucks and Explorers over the next few years, and then a 2001 F150 SuperCrew, 2003 Ford Excursion 4X4, 2003 Lincoln Navigator, 2003 Ford F150, 2004 Ranger 4X4, 2004 Ford F250 King Ranch 4X4, 2005 Lincoln Navigator, 2007 Explorer Sport Trac 4X4, 2010 Ford Raptor, 2010 Lincoln Navigator and lastly a 2010 Ford F150.

This will be the last Ford that I or any of my Family will purchase until this matter has been resolved!

I really had my mind set on a new GT500 this year too! Won't buy any GM..... (Govt Motors). Don't want any Mopars.............. (Foreign and Unions owned)!

I guess I will be forced to shop and spend money in Europe!!!!
